Whilst I have the utmost sympathy that much work as been devalued in your eyes, are you 100% sure that Pierre who ever he is was talking about your theory suspect. He gave very little away. Mainly saying what his suspect wasn't.

I know most of the story, but not the whole story. But from what I do know, Pinkmoon is right to be concerned about Pierre's talk.

I can honestly and sincerely say that I don't know who Pierre is and I haven't told him (or anyone else) about Grampton.

The manor house was , as far as I am aware, named after the The third Earl back in the 1680's..who lost the title after a rather naughty evening with one of Cromwell relations.
Can't for he life of me remember the name though. Perhaps others may know.

After all that has gone on in last 2 days, part of me still wonders if this not all some elaborate leg-pull.

2 individuals so far, one being at said home in 1889. Apparently there is some religious connection with him, be that his occupation or faith. one assumes this is significant, but can we be sure after all the leads and hints.
