  • Voodoo, anyone?

My mistake, Amanda, I thought as resident manbo I'd 'boin da candles' etc. But I guess I'll have to heavily starch the altar cloths.

GUT, my ex was a lawyer, at the top of his class. I never won an argument, so I was never an HERSELF. Big Daddy called all the shots, seeing as how I was not expected to work & was provided with a maid, cook & gardener. Current hubs is a doctor..I only turn into a dragon when he shows his utter stupidity by coming into the kitchen when I cook. Then I just hold up my Japanese knife. I'm left-handed. He recoils in horror at the sight of a left-handed Spanish-Viking-British-Irish-Basque woman wielding a very sharp Japanese knife that he paid a great deal of money for.

I can be called upon to cook as well as iron.
From Voltaire writing in Diderot's Encyclopédie:
"One demands of modern historians more details, better ascertained facts, precise dates, , more attention to customs, laws, commerce, agriculture, population."

If, after 30 years, 'dis here don woik out' I'll marry a mechanic & move to Panther Burn, Mississippi.

I'll leave the ...'doctor, lawyer, Indian chief..' To someone else...

            • Hello, General Amanda,

Well, a historian and a librarian are inclined to bring books along!
Anyway, what's a nice long spell of captivity without reading material?!
              (Boring, that's what...)

I have heard Switzerland is neutral, so I think that is a great place to escape to!

                • Daughter is just watching the movie "Chicken Run"

                  Anyone seen it.

Right at the start the rooster is digging under the fence with a spoon, I know how he feels.

That's a very cute movie. There are other references to "The Great Escape", such as the "cooler" and the bouncing ball.
Another good animated film with a WWII theme is "Valiant" about a pigeon with dreams of glory who eventually acheives them in a heroic way.

                            G'Day GUT,

If "Chicken Run" is the Claymation film about chickens trying to escape a sadistic chicken pie farmer/manufacturer, then I did see it, and I enjoyed it.

Mel Gibson did the voice of the "aviator" rooster.

You forgot Geoffrey Rush, who I'd trade for Errol Flynn. I like Flynn through "The Master of Ballentrae" and "Kim", but aside from a few late pictures ("The Roots of Heaven", "The Sun Also Rises", maybe "Too Much, Too Soon") his films in the 1950s were pretty bad.
