I think I'll wait for the inevitable release of the four movie box set of Indiana Jones films.
I am far too excited about the new one for a man of my age.
Roll up the lino, Mother. We're raising Behemoth tonight!
I recently found a copy of "Loch Ness Terror" and as a collector of all thing's Nessie I bought it, it wasn't that bad for a low budget flick.
Nessie appeared almost straight away, which was a bit disapointing, but she did kick ass. The cgi was awful, and the acting pretty terrible, but I wasn't expecting alot.
It was like a long cheesy epsiode of XFiles!!
Speaking of which, X-Files 2 is on the way, starring Billy Connelly and Xzibit!!
I also bought "I am Omega" starring Mark Decassos when I bought "I am Legend" it is of course another kung fu verision of the "Omega Man"!!
Just saw the trailer of Indiana Jones, and both me and my wife are excited!!
I have the Indiana Jones Boxset, on both video and dvd, I also have the Indiana Jones TV series on Video, which is gradually being released on dvd.
Just finished watching "Plunkett and Macleane". What a hoot!
I saw a small portion of it on TV last year, and it's looked just interesting enough to want to see the whole thing. Then I picked up a VHS copy for $2when the local video chain dumped all their tapes for DVD's. Finally got around to watching it. Hard to describe really--it's funny enough, but not enough to be called a "comedy", there's action, but not enough to be an "action" movie. Not quite accurate enough to be a historical drama, and far too crude to be a period romance.
But bloody fun to watch for all that! I'd recommend it, and I'll certainly watch it again sometime. The one criticism I have is the use of modern, trancy music in a period setting. It's not that I didn't like the music (which was actually pretty good), but it did sort of stick out like a sore thumb and break the mood at times.
Part 2 of tonight's double feature coming up--still trying to decide between Kind Hearts and Coronets (best film ever made), Hot Fuzz, or Beowulf and Grendel. Decisions, Decisions....
Hot Fuzz wasn't that bad actually, typical British take on the Cop-Buddy-Genre, with some great action sequences, and funny cameo appearances.
My mate is on a chessy 80's horror tip at the moment, visited recently and ended up watching "The Stuff" what a film, why no one ever remade it is beyond me!!
Tried watching Aliens Vs Predator; Requiem last night but the movie is so dark I ended up turning it off.
I don't mean dark as in the subject matter, but the way almost every scene is set in a dark building, forest and even a sewer! When things started hotting up, the predator blew up the power plant so no one had any light!!
You could not see a thing, it was really badly made, and the attempt to add human back story was crap and had me praying they all got eaten or blasted!!
I know exactly what you're talking about re: AvP2. It's way too dark in spots and really it's just plain stupid. I didn't like it. The first one rocked, though. Bring back Sigourney Weaver!
Stan, et al,
I watched a movie last night you guys absolutely HAVE to see. It's a small British horror/comedy called 'The Cottage'. It stars Any Serkis, whom I very much admire. He played Gollum in the Lord of the Rings movies, played King Kong, and also did a wonderful job as Tesla's assistant in The Prestige. This is probably the best movie of it's kind to come out in a few years.
I also strongly recommend Nanking, which is captivating albeit disturbing. I can't say enough about it.

Hi Tom,
"Andy Serkis" is fab and "The Cottage" is ace, an hilarious comedy horror with plenty of gore!!
It was great to see the lovely "Jennifer Ellison" in the film and not to mention "Doug Bradley" of "Hellraiser" fame!!
If Hellraiser tore your soul apart, The Cottage will tear your funny bone apart!!
Yes, Doug "Pinhead" Bradley was in there. I hope he can get more work in British cinema. The English make much better horror films than America these days. I hate Japanese horror. Can't wait for Dog Soldiers II.
Is Andy Serkis more well known in England? His name is not well known in America. I just happen to be a fan of his because of his absolutely amazing work in King Kong. I think he's probably one of the best actors currently in the business.
We must be watching the same movies - I personally LOVED Hot Fuzz. I think it's better than Shaun of the Dead. Two more examples of the superiority of British filmmakers in the horror/comedy subgenre. Believe it or not I also enjoyed Loch Ness Terror, which delivered on the fun cheese. You also mentioned the new Indiana Jones movie. Not two hours ago I e-mailed a friend asking if she'd like to go see that with me! Remarkably, she's never seen any of the others.
I cannot stop humming the Indiana Jones theme song,
"Off to wash the pots honey, (humming the tune as I walk past imaginery dart guns hidden in the wall!)"
I cannot wait for it, every were you look in Hull there are posters all over. Big Blockbusters like that we always meet up with all my DJ friends and make a night of it!!
Hot Fuzz was like a comedy take on the comedy that was Lethal Weapon, but set in a sleepy English village! The falling church tower is a fave, and I have watched it frame by frame loads!
I also enjoyed Shaun of the Dead, with the gorgeous Lucy Davies, who starred in the British Comedy "The Office" she is pretty hot!
Hot Fuzz was way, way better than the Lethal Weapon movies! I liked how they worked in slasher film and Agatha Christie elements. Have you seen the teaser for the new 'Star Trek' remake with Leonard Nimoy?
The Star Trek trailer is probably online, but I saw it on a DVD. It shows them building the Enterprise, so the movie takes place upon the inception of the Enterprise, thus before Capt. Kirk. No sure what Nimoy's part is, but when you see the words 'U.S.S. Enterprise' come on the screen, you hear his voice say 'Space, the final frontier...' which is cool, and he's listed in the credits. My guess is he does a cameo as Spock in the future.
Thanks Tom, I found an HD version on YOUTUBE last night, the building of the ship looks amazing and I am looking forward to a release.
Paramount stated it would be this Christmas, but on the website this has changed to Summer 09!!
I used to love the Christmas StarTrek releases!!
I have all the movies on VHS in boxset twice over, one set is standard, one is widescreen. I also have the Special Edition releases on dvd. I never bought any of the tv series though.
