Just so we're clear, Trappy, if Barrett wasn't capable of the ion two-step, we should not assume that there must be someone out there (so far undiscovered) who could dance it a little better. Maybe it's a dance too far.

And that's before we ask how on earth you embed aged particles into scratches in a watch, whether you are Bongo Barrett or Brian Cox. That's definitely a dance too far.

    • Neverthless, Ikey, isn't it better to go with Mr. X who somehow, at least theoretically, had this Factor X that he got from the forgery equivalent of Grey's Anatomy than to go with Michael Barrett?

It's the same with Old Hoax Theory. They're going with a Mr. X with a Factor X that gives him inside information related to JTR. You're left to fight the wind instead of windmills!

      • Why does the diary mention a murder in Manchester, but the Watch only contain the initials of the London murders?

I believe the watch contains 2 other sets of initials besides the C5.

The general consensus of pro diarists (of which I am one) that the professionally engraved JO stands for John Over - but I have a theory that isn’t the case. The first Manchester murder I believe took place not that far from the Lancaster shop of Verity and I believe the initials JO are of his first victim - who might have had a mis-diagnosed death. I have a couple of candidates that died in Jan / Feb 1888 with matching initials aged between 30-45 - but until I know the cause of death I am reluctant to name names.

Does it? We have not qualified who J.O is profesionally engraved yet. Could unearth something rather intriguing....

Thanks. That's news to me. I always understood there were only the C5 on the watch.

                          • You need to wear your corset most of the time when on these boards, chaps, given some of the 'funny' stuff one finds here....

Ar, well, yes - first win in 4 games, Ike. I haven't read a report yet, but believe there were yawns and nods around the lower reaches of the Holte End. But a grand return for Steve Bruce, eh? 'Up The Villa' indeed....

On the contrary, Graham, old short-socks Grealish was in imperial form commanding his small Brummy empire and he well deserved his MotM award. Two goals from set-pieces is never satisfactory for a team (Newcastle) whose ambition this season is 38 0-0 draws and therefore survival.

A January murder won’t work because it had to have happened after they moved into Battlecrease. The date of the lease was Feb 1st which I think means that’s when they move in as opposed to what I said on the Manchester Murders thread.
