    Bedlam

    Hello David. Thanks.

"you're a negationist using the methods of negationism."

    Yawn.

"You often avoid questions you're asked (latest example, Jon Guy's) . . ."

I answered that. Jon said as much. I DO get tired, however, of going over old material.

    ". . . or answer them flippantly."

    Never a serious one.

"You focus on minor détails, such as Kate's pockets, the fact that she would have been thirsty and hungry (???), etc."

Not minor from where I sit.

"And when you're kind enough to expose a whole scenario, the result is unbelievable. . .

But Liz being accosted by BSM, PM chasing IS, then PM returning to Liz--in suspended animation--to console her, then kill her is quite believable?

"I'm not being nasty, that's just what you are doing."

Actually, you are. You focus on posters and wish not to discuss forensics because it shows all the fatal flaws in a position that died on the vine ages ago.

As Dickens had Scrooge say, "I'll retire to bedlam."

    Cheers.

    Polly

    Hello (again) CD.

"My point was that they may have washed after previous customers and prior to encountering their killer and that they were killed before any sexual activity took place with their killer."

    No doubt true of Polly.

    Cheers.

    no connection

    Hello CD.

"An even simpler explanation is that they were all killed before any type of sexual activity took place."

Happy with this--well, except Polly. Are we agreeing?

    Cheers.

    good post

    Hello Gwyneth.

"I think the chances are that all of the victims would try to beg, borrow or steal money before resorting to prostitution."

A most intelligent observation. Of course, it is difficult not to see Polly in that light. I am thinking of some of her hints.

    Cheers.

    What's on the menu?

    Hello Trevor. Thanks.

"Let's sort the wheat from the chaff on this topic of connection."

    Always ready so to do.

"It is painful to watch these posts."

    Wasn't going to say anything, but . . .

"The doctors suggest no recent connection, but surely that does not mean that none took place?"

Agreed. I could agree further if I knew to whom you refer. Polly almost certainly had, but, as Oram suggested, she was a VERY clean woman. So saith Llewellyn. Obviously, she washed at the lodginghouse. Kate showed no signs of connection and her thighs were without secretions. Perhaps there was a good reason for that, say, no connection?

"The doctors would have been looking for signs of semen externally and internally."

    Quite.

"If they had been with anyone and had engaged in vaginal or anal sex then who is to say that the person or persons they went with did not ejaculate outside of the body."

No one. But why assume such? Is it required for a theory?

"If a client did not have sufficient money for the full menu. They would have been offered a starter at a reduced rate."

Never heard of such a menu. Love to see it. (No, not for THAT reason. heh-heh)

    Cheers.

Right. They were daily casual prostitutes and never drank two glasses at a time.

Do you have a source for your information? I really don't think these women absolutely never passed up the opportunity to turn a trick; I think they did other work when they could, probably begged and scrounged sometimes, and resorted to prostitution when they were desperate, but in that, didn't do more than the bare necessity. If a woman had her doss money, and was headed to the doss house, when someone approached her and asked for sex, I think she'd turn him down. She didn't need the money at that moment, and saving it for the next day was risky, because there was a chance it would get stolen. Better to wait until right before she needed it. Aside from the fact that it didn't make her a target for theft, she had 24 hours to hope something less unpleasant came up (no pun intended).

    Necessity

    Hello Trevor,

I think you should substitute the word "necessity" for opportunity in your comment. We're talking a few coppers here (coppers as in money, I mean) not "Pretty Woman", I doubt that the women particularly relished the transaction.

    Best regards,

Well they had no choice did they ?

Were there really enough beds for anyone who potentially might want one, or was it possible not to get a bed just by showing up too late, even if you had the money?
