    • I feel like I swear too much to go to Canada.

      • Hi, Rosella,

It depends on the weather patterns. Right now we have snow on the ground, and expect more later in the week, but expect sunshine this afternoon. Anyway, our lows rarely get below -20, which I've heard is mild compared to parts of Canada (and the plains states, for that matter).

Perhaps Trump will incite another Secession, and form his own country from certain regions. I bet he'd like that.

        • I'm from Buffalo NY...so I'm practically Canadian as it is (for those who don't know...Buffalo is nowhere near NY City...but right on the Canadian border...in fact (Please don't think I'm trying to sound like Sarah Palin) but I can see Canada from my office window hahaha.....I don't think I could flee to Canada no matter who is elected.....first off...I could never cheer for the Toronto Maple Leafs ( ok only Canadians and SOME Americans will get that joke)...second....I'm American.....I refuse to learn the metric system!!!!!!

Seriously.......this makes me want to watch the movie Canadian Bacon again....hilarious movie...but only if you live on the US/Canadian border...otherwise many of the jokes make no sense...

But just in case things get even stranger in our political system...I better start practicing.......(clears throat).....OH CANADA....OUR HOME AND NATIVE LAND......( wonder if I can get use to maple syrup and not winning so many Olympic medals.....) in all seriousness I realy do love Canada and consider it like a second home......except Quebecois .....

          • I might to be able to make it in Ontario or Nova Scotia. It would be colder, but I'd just consider it more bracing weather.

I'd have to suddenly be aware that the British Royal Family is MY monarch and her (or his) family again, and not just something I admire the pageantry of.

Problem is that I am now 61 headed for 62, and I'd have to get rid of a lifetime of pro-American feelings. In Canada I'd have to be aware of the antics of Henry Clay, John C. Calhoun, and the War Hawks, and how Sir Isaac Brock gave his life to save what was British North America at Queenstown Hights, and keep those land grabbing scuzzies to the south out of this set of provinces (then separate colonies).

The worst maritime disaster in my country's history would no longer be the "Sultana" on the Mississippi River, but the "Empress of Ireland" in the St. Lawrence. Runner - up would be the "Halifax Explosion" because of the combination of events leading to a tsunami from the explosion.

I have (in my lifetime) seen two Bush Presidencies. Now I'd have to experience my second Trudeau Prime Ministership.

And while I have become more conservative, would I actually embrace the Tories? Or would I secretly say to myself, "Poor Louis RieL.", and vote Liberal.

Many emotional and thought provoking problems here. I'll have to think about it.

            Jeff

Well, I'm an hour west of Toronto and just to give you a hint, if things don't change we'll be breaking out the barbecue for christmas dinner...

Don't forget you can be as far from Trump as possible and yet ready to slip over the border as soon as he goes. This would be by taking up residence in the Yukon. I think the weather's quite bracing.

Was gonna say flee down under Steady, but we use metric too so that's not an answer.

A Texas police chief suggests Americans arm themselves in the wake of the "disappointing" speech by President Obama.
Other police officials have also said the same things.
(As a non-owner of a gun-- trust me, we're not all born knowing how to handle them.)
Evidently the ACLU thinks arming up is a good idea too, that is if you are wanting to vote for Trump.

                        • Never mind about the royal family, Leigh or metrics. You'd soon get used to it. You would all love Australia, which is of course the best country in the world and even further away from Trump than Canada is.
