Hi Herlock,

If you were a fan of the Civil War documentary, I highly recommend Co. Aytch by Sam Watkins. It was the Rebel diary they kept citing from in the series. A great look at what the war was like from the perspective of a Rebel private.

Co Aytch is one of the most entertaining memoirs, but Sam Watkins isn't quite the man of the people that he pretends. He came from the third wealthiest family in his county and his father owned over 100 slaves. Watkins brought one of them along to do all of the non-fighting work for him.

I think that’s another part of it CF. These little dogs are often carried around like babies.

They actually make 'belly carriers" (if that's the proper term) for small dogs.

I certainly don’t dislike small dogs, it’s just the yapping.

To be fair, it's just about the only way they can say "I'm down HERE! Don't step ('tread') on me!"

Sort of like snakes, which are even MORE abused.

Anything by Ken Burns is good imo c.d. I think his series on The Civil War is one of the best documentaries I’ve seen.

Those labels at the back of the collars of T shirts - the ones that sometimes turn to rough plastic after a wash or two and scratch the neck. Although most seem to be made differently and better these days, thank goodness!

The cost of everyday food is insane. My fiancé and I work 4 days a week each, he does 8 hour shifts+, so together we work full time. We kept wondering what the hell was happening to our finances and as it turns out it's literally just food shopping. We don't eat out, we rarely eat take-aways, we never go to pubs, we don't buy expensive food. It's abominable. Both working and still having to ask parents for money

Got a statement from my health insurance for a yearly physical I had a few months ago. Had routine blood work done. There was a charge (which fortunately I did not have to pay) for "insertion of needle into vein for collection of blood sample." If only they had said sir, there will be a small charge for the needle unless you would prefer to take out your pocket knife and do it yourself.

No wonder health care costs are do damn high.

Could be Pat. Every writer is entitled to plug their book but there’s no need for so many threads especially when the same stuff is just being repeated and he refuses to be questioned. It hardly shows a courage in his alleged ‘convictions.’
