      Hi OneRound,

I’m a cricket man rather than football but I watched some clips of 1970’s football a few weeks ago and my two nephews were there (20 and 18). They had never seen football were players were tackled, went down, then got straight back up without pretending that Sonny Liston had just punched them.

My friends son bought a phone that cost more than his car (although the car was was bought very cheaply from his friend, but still..)

I find this mostly in office workers. I'm 29, my bf is 21, and we are both cleaners and have had 0 issues with our actual job. Colleagues are hit and miss but no-one seriously terrible. A main issue is laziness.

                  • Young people quitting jobs is very trendy right now. I suspect they feel all virtuous holding steadfast to their values and probably go to parties and say things like I quit three jobs last year, how many have you quit? I have to believe that somewhere reality is laughing its head off because you can't get unemployment if you quit a job in most cases. Quitting doesn't stop the bills from coming in so I suspect that many of them are living off of high interest rate credit cards and have a huge balance out the wazoo.

It's trendy because there are places paying higher wages and job loyalty has died because bonuses and pay rises are basically gone. If another crops up with a slightly better pay, that matters enough to young people to make them take that job, even if it's just an extra £250/month. That could pay the council tax. It's not thought fair to work hard and be offered no perks, bonuses or otherwise when that's what your parents had.

                        • Uncultured people.

I'm out here learning poetry, literature and other points of culture and they're out there listening to someone sing about getting laid.

There's sex in Chaucer too - and it's better written

                            Hello Herlock,

Probably best to limit this thread to non-Ripper irritations. I'm sure you can figure out why.

Look at this way, Tani. Uncultured people have a role to fill in society. Without them, you would not be able to feel cultured in comparison to them and they allow you to feel superior. Kind of like unattractive people. Trust Mother Nature, Tani. She knows what she is doing.
