Hello all, sold my hockey card collection two years ago for fifty bucks in exchange for petrol. The cards combined are now worth $3400. (arguably)
Let this be a lesson to you.
Personally, don't think old newspapers on Titanic are worth much, that is all archived abundantly.
But if you have items from the Roswell crash, you struck gold!

You would be amazed at my collections,
My DVD collection is in the thousands,
My VHS collection is in the thousands,
My book collection is in the thousands,
I have a massive collection of film posters, stills, art cards, postcards, standees, and merchandise.

I used to have a massive collection of StarWars stuff but sold it a week before episode 1 was released, which was a good thing as intrest was high, but seemed to fall after the release of the movie!
It was to a collector in Leeds and I earned a small fortune!

I have boxes full of X Files merchandise including first editions of all the comics, from the UK, USA and Canada, many with the free gifts attatched to the front cover!

I also have a little collection of video game merchandise including a set of Grand Theft Auto playing cards from the release of Grand Theft Auto 3!
No one can even give me a price for them!

My son has the full collection of Die Cast Disney Cars from the film Cars, he also has the full set from the Roary the Racing Car tv show.

I too have quite a lot of die cast cars from the movies, including
James Bond, Batman, Terminator, Predator, and some super hero stuff.
I have a really old Batmoile, Superman space shuttle thing with punching fists, and an old Joker mobile.

Hi Mike,

Recently Corgi put out the James Bond series and the Batman one - and I found the local Waldgreen's was selling them so I bought six of the former and two of the latter. I'm still trying to find other outlets - they may have other models in those series. I got that Joker mobile. Unfortunately the head looks like the Joker from the comic strip of the 1950s, not like Jack Nicholson or even Cesar Romero.

I once had a large comic strip collection - like a chump I threw it out about 1975.

Fortunately I never really got into sports chewing gum cards.

Some dates
The batman stuff dates from 1978/79, with some from 1989, to coincide with the first film, and Batman returns.
The older stuff includes, The Batmobile, Trailer, Batboat, Jokers van.

I have a 1978/79 Superman rocket with punching fists!

Some of the Bond stuff is 78/79 but a lot is more recently,

I also have a collection of cartoon charectors sat in cars but cant find a date,

Jerry in a car with a little green cannon,
Bugs Bunny in a car,

We have a major storm heading our way, it is supposedly the worst storm in 80 years to hit the UK and we have been told to expect power cuts, strong winds, rain and flooding (again)
I have already moved the bulk of the stuff upstairs (again) and have got the box of candles ready (again)

I should be recording the podcast tonight so hopefully the power will be ok!!

It is a lovely day at the moment, sunny, blue skies, but the news and enviroment agency have warned not to go out!

Jeff, That letter might be worth something some day, maybe? The only Titanic stuff I have is a handful of books. In the book Passage by Connie Willis, the Titanic figures strongly, though it is not the actual ship, not quite. The image she paints of being out in the middle of the Atlantic, it's night, cold, and "the light's are going out" really stuck in my imagination.

We have a lot of stuff, but we are trying to weed it out, since we have to get this house ready to go on the market, as soon as the time is right. Beanie babies. Remember those? My late father-in-law built an entire shelf unit to house his beanie baby collection. People gave him these things. We also have to put that house up for sale. I just finished cataloging these things, and I got about 8 or 9 of those big ziploc bags full. Now what!?

Plang, I don't know what the final bids were on the Titanic postcards but I believe they were up in the $75 to $100 range and more. But the newspapers? Don't know. I don't think the one I saw got bid on.

Mike, I hope that storm calms down before it gets to you all.

I keep hearing on the news to get ready for it, but in all honesty it is lovely out!

My daughter has been for a walk to the shops with my mum and they have been playing in the garden whilst I was flushing the drains with caustic soda!

Watched an interesting docco last night called "The Bligh Conspiracy" which looked at the mutiny on the Bounty and tried to discover whether Bligh was the monster portrayed in the literature, and if not find out how that image of him came about.

There was an interesting meeting between the great-great-great-grandson of Bligh and the great-great-great-grandson of Fletcher Christian (who came off as a bit of a jerk, to be honest)

I don't know what to tell you about the Beanie Babies. They may be valuable too.

I am having a problem with this website. I wrote a full reply to you about the Walter Lord letter, and for some reason the site required me to sign on again because...I took too long in replying?

Whatever it is it's annoying. I now feel like I have to break up everything
I write out to meet a time limit.

If anyone else is having this problem they ought to complain.
