  • I thought that Rob and Phil would have made enough off the first edition to buy adjoining properties in Cavalaire-sur-mer. Non? OK, then I'll buy the second edition.

    • GM, we got a small advance and that was it. We've not been paid royalties on anything from 2008 - a condition of reprinting was that we take copies of the book at authors' discount in lieu of royalties. I can sell them on my tours but in fact in the early stages I will be quids down, as I'll be taking Rob's copies off him (not having an outlet for them). For most of us, writing books gives a return for the labour under the minimum wage.

      • It's here! It's a beauty.

All cross-hatching corrected, a much nicer matt cover and lots of scrummy new photos... and an index, I do believe!

        • Congratulations(I seem to be writing that a lot lately here), Philip!

It looks great! Now where to buy? Can you sell it directly?

That I can. Postage to the US is horribly high, though.

              • I'll be putting this on my Christmas list! Incidentally, does this make the first printing a collectable? I have two copies as Amazon seemingly lost my order, replaced it, then the original arrived 3 months later!!!

                  Hi, Philip.

Maybe you could sort of 'smuggle' some copies over to America for free in the luggage of Conference attendees?

(Because I guess it would be a bit cruel to force them to physically swallow a number of books in order to serve as your "mule" )

Congrats again to you & Rob.

                  Best regards, Archaic

                  • I'd like to know how much it would cost to get a couple of signed copies (one for me, and one for my brother, and, preferably, before Christmas) across the ocean to the Senior Dominion.

                    • I suspect that rather depends on the suitcase of Robert J McLaughlin, GM!

I will get them signed for you, and post them once I return to Canadian soil. Just message me.

                          Cheers,

                          • Hi Guys.

Well, my son bought me "The London Of Jack The Ripper" as a present last Christmas.

It's absolutely first class, so I'll be asking for the second edition this coming Christmas.

                            Great stuff Philip and Rob.

                            All the best.

                            • Robert,

Did you receive the PM that I sent you over the weekend? I noticed today that it doesn't appear in my Sent Items basket.

                              • I have not received a PM from you. Try again, or just email me at lacassagne@email.com as I'm not worried about being spammed at this address.

                                Cheers,

                                Robert
