If we're discussing Marshall's testimony here, then more myth on display.

[Coroner] You are quite sure that the deceased is the woman you saw? - Quite. I did not take much notice whether she was carrying anything in her hands.
[Coroner] What first attracted your attention to the couple? - By their standing there for some time, and he was kissing her.

It was noted at the time that Marshall's description was similar to Best and Gardener's descriptions. Best and Gardener also stated that the man and Stride were kissing, it's a fair bet they all saw the same man. Best and Gardener noted that Stride wore a flower
