Well if that were so Lynn, then LeGrands dirty footprints are certainly all over the Whitechapel Murders aren't they?

Hello Dave. My paradigm of John and Kate involves possessing a bit of information on WHH.

Kate's final days would then involve meeting him and discussing terms. Final meeting in a pub where he lavishes liquor and "agrees" to terms. She is later gaoled for D & D.

When released, she is directed to Mitre sq.

Now, that place was notorious for solicitation. Her body is found there, "Hmm, know what she was up to." Perfect way to dovetail with the previous killings.

The knife wielder? Try the "notorious and unpopular character who was tete-a-tete with Hurlbert."

And it would be even better if this character were a "private investigator" who advertised about finding people and who specialised in divorce cases--and who also was known to provide "blackmail counseling."

Finally, it would help if this person were a known sociopathic thug who:

    1. had an office close to Hurlbert's favourite club,

    2. admitted to having killed a woman,

    3. was eventually imprisoned and regarded by the prison grapevine as "Jack the Ripper",

    4. were involved in planting evidence in the Stride killing to impede the investigation.

    Cheers.

I liked the veiled description of two episodes where he lost his grip...

However, whatever knowledge can Kelly have, that threatens this paragon...was he subcontracted to steal the letters perhaps, or does he know the redheaded man who presumably did the deed?

    Or am I misunderstanding?

Hello Dave. Thanks. Now I need an impressive amount of evidence.

I really liked the phrase about WHH having a "screw loose." That he was a womaniser and hence a fit subject for blackmail helps.

Professor Crofts' book is very helpful. It shows that Hurlbert planned some events YEARS in advance.

Finally, it does not hurt the case that WHH stole some of the letters he had written to Gladys Evelyn.

    Cheers.

    Sir Walter

    Hello Dave.

"Non-Jack solutions, over the years, are far from rare, but Lynn seems to be suggesting a new one...should this be here or a fresh thread? "

Better wait until I get some more evidence. Just ordered a good many letters from Princeton University--Sir Walter Besant's. He seems to be the one making the charge.

    Cheers.

    Hello Bridewell.

"Well somebody bought Kate Eddowes quite a lot of booze on the afternoon preceding her arrest. As she was pretty much incapably drunk, I would suggest that this was on or near Aldgate High Street - The Three Nuns perhaps? "

I can live with that. (And thanks for not claiming it was another unfortunate who bought it.)

    Cheers.

    Non-Ripper

A number of people have posted that the odds are against two serial killers in a small area of London in the late 1880s...Yet there were the "Ripper Murders" and the "Torso Murders"...

Others have argued that all (or most) of the non-torso murders must be linked because of the similarities of technique...hence Jack...

Non-Jack solutions, over the years, are far from rare, but Lynn seems to be suggesting a new one...should this be here or a fresh thread?

    Best wishes

    Dave

    Hi Lynn,

Well somebody bought Kate Eddowes quite a lot of booze on the afternoon preceding her arrest. As she was pretty much incapably drunk, I would suggest that this was on or near Aldgate High Street - The Three Nuns perhaps?

    Regards, Bridewell.

    No thanks.

Hello Jon. Joking aside (difficult for me), if you refer to the sexual serial killer business, no.

In fact, on a personal note, if I found out that my simple (Isenschmid) theory is incorrect, I would withdraw from the case and forbid "Jack the Ripper" to be mentioned in my hearing.

I should then--a propos of an old flatulator--dedicate my remaining days to mathematics and languages, something I can understand.

    Cheers.
