Hello Tom. Ah, I haven't posted it yet. I was just mentioning to Maria by email that the testimony which Debs Arif has so generously shared has inspired me to extend the scope of my investigation. (Hence Aarons and Bachert.)

I did find this, which may or may not be our chap. This Joseph Aarons is from 1906.

Right now I am trying to locate the names of the 2 chaps who were killed by Hargan. I'd also like to know why Bachert was concerned in this.

Debs' files were a real eye opener. The bulk of the testimony concerns sending the Russian Jews back home.

Now, here's a teaser concerning Anglo-Jewry. Rachkovski once remarked that by feigning deafness he was able to survive English dinner parties. Whose parties had he attended? Probably not any poor greeners' or unfortunate ladies' parties.

In Paris Danish ultra-conservative journalist Jules Hansen introduced Rachkovsky to the French government. I read Hansen's “book“ (pamphlet) in Paris and he was an ardent supporter of tsar Alexander III as “a great peacemaker“. I believe Monty and Rob have posted all they know about Lusk's bankruptcy here on the corresponding Casebook thread. I'm quite interested to learn of any Aarons discoveries, since I believe he was an acquaintance of Charles Le Grand prior to Le Grand's being hired (by Aarons) for the WVC.

Hello Maria. You are entirely correct about Rachkovski. If I understand the Okhrana MO correctly, they always arrived on the new turf, introduced themselves to the local police and others who, by reason of social standing, might be sympathetic to law and order (and by extension, the Tsar), and explained that their goals were roughly the same.

Now, if you recall from the other thread I started a while back, there was interplay between the upper strata of Anglo Jewry and the WVC. So, suddenly, the chaps on the WVC are of great interest to me.
