One thing WE DO NOT DO is put in pies.

That is very interesting since you eat in so many other ways.

A lot of the pumpkin pie you get in grocery stores or cheap restaurants is nothing to write home about. But when done well by a good bakery, or restaurant or homemade it can be quite good especially with real whipped cream on top. Pair it with a good, strong cup of coffee and you have a winner especially if preceded by a huge Thanksgiving Meal.

Pumpkin spice flavored everything has become a cliche here, there are pumpkin festivals, punken chunken contests(competitions where people fire pumpkins from home made catapults) and pumpkin patches everywhere. I used to have one in my backyard. And of course the famous peanuts cartoon..Its the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown! which is tradition to watch on the telly here every Halloween. and the story of Ichabod Crane and the headless horseman and movie Halloween both feature jack o lanterns prominently!

And of course The great tradition of smashing pumpkins(which is also the name of a popular band here) on Halloween night.
Smashed pumpkins all over the place the next morning lol.

Yup, us Yanks love their pumpkins!
Oh, I like the sound of the Punken Chunken contests!

Are pumpkin ales a thing in England? they are here and getting even more popular.

You can get them here Abby but I’d think that you would be unlikely to walk into a pub and find one on sale unless you went into a pub where a local brewery made one. I bought beer today from a supermarket but next week I’ll have a look and see if my local place sells one. I’ll report back. I’ll try anything once.

I know the tradition of Jack-o'-lanterns (pumpkins with lights inside them) comes from Ireland and the Irish coming to America brought the tradition with them.

I believe Voltaire said the exact same thing when he allegedly visited a male brothel just to see what it was like. The story goes that he was asked how it was and if he would go back. He reportedly said it was okay but as to going back "no, once a philosopher, twice a pervert."

Not quite- the Irish used turnips, cut open and a candle inside them as lamps to ward off spirits. In America, turnips became pumpkins.
