    Owen Charles!

    Born 10/8

    Weight: 7 lb 9 oz

Unfortunately, Owen is having trouble regulating his blood sugar. He is probably going to have to remain in the hospital for 1-2 weeks, and so your positive thoughts are most welcome. Here is a pic of him with his big brother, Evan.

Heartiest congratulations Barnaby...and that's a beautifully composed photograph by the way.

I'm sure there's an awful lot of folk on here pulling for Owen Charles!

        All the best

Actually I thought Nob was a Biblical town where King Saul's troops massacred some of the Jewish priests who gave David (then a rebel leader) the sword of Goliath. Job, of course, is based on the book of Job's title character (who lived in the land of Uz, which sounds like it is near Dorothy Gale's "Oz").

Job as a name is unusual. Two characters I can think of with it - Job Trotter, a minor character in Dicken's novel "Pickwick Papers"., and Job Skeffington, the title character in the novel and movie "Mr. Skeffington". He is a gentle banker in New York City who is of Jewish ancestry and marries Fanny - in the movie Job was Claude Rains and Fanny was Bette Davis. Actually Davis' s role was the larger one, but Rains kept our sympathies for a change.

Best of luck to Owen Charles and his family!!

Came to this interesting thread too late. Good luck to Owen. Had I come earlier I could have suggested the correct variant "Geoffrey" for (ahem) my own first name of "Jeffrey".

Oddly nobody else suggested either spelling or the name at all.

So glad you recognise the correct spelling.

Well someone had to, and General, Lord Amherst is no longer around to do it.

                    Congratulations, Barnaby!

I like the name Owen that you chose, and I hope little Owen comes home to you very soon.

Beautiful children. Evan is probably busy planning important big brother stuff, like teaching his little brother to ride a bike.

(A 5-year-older once told me, "The trick is to not stop peddling" - and he was right!)

                    Best regards,

                    • Hi Barnaby,

Many congratulations to you and your family on the birth of little Owen Charles. I really like his names, too. The little chap is in our thoughts and prayers.

That's a truly beautiful photograph of you and your two young sons.
