I confess that altruistic and cynically selfish talk seem to me about equally unreal. With all humility, I think 'whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might,' infinitely more important than the vain attempt to love one's neighbour as one's self. If you want to hit a bird on the wing you must have all your will in focus, you must not be thinking about yourself, and equally, you must not be thinking about your neighbour; you must be living with your eye on that bird. Every achievement is a bird on the wing.

Still no consensus reached in the baby name with the wife. Right now I'm going through a loveable/misunderstood bad guy phase, with names like Cooper (D.B.), Jesse (James), Dillinger (John), and Tony (Soprano) coming to mind. Dillinger would be a middle name. Any other suggestions on this theme?

Relatedly, any names of heroic police figures pursuing these types of guys? I like Elliot (Ness) but wife hates it. Of course she hates all of these names except Cooper, probably because she doesn't know who D.B. Cooper was (or is?)

When I was a teenager we had a deaconess in our parish called Miss Wyatt. Naturally, we scamps use to call her Wyatt Earp behind her back. One day, my friend's rather scatty mother bumped into the deaconess and said "Oh good morning Miss Earp". Did she have a red face when she realised her mistake!

                        And how we laughed.

Surnames can be enough of a problem, without given names coming back to haunt a person.

                        Love,

                        Caz

Can anyone come up with some good ones? Let me clarify that I don't want to name him after the murderer. So Van Gogh is out. I was thinking like "Abberline" as a middle name, etc.
                          David. What else ?
The Ethiopian version of it is also beautiful : Dawit.

Update: At the moment the compromise list includes:

                              Leo William
                              Isaac Matthew
                              Nathan Charles
                              Micah?

Last name starts with G is long and is Slavic. So nothing goes with it. Suggestions for middle names for Micah are appreciated because we both like that.

My toddler wants to name it Leo.

My wife is still pressing for a Tyler allowing me to pick the middle name. Any tangential Ripper related name to go with that?

                                G'day Barnaby

Of the list I like Leo William but if your little one likes Leo and you and the boss like Micah why not Micah Leo?

My niece's middle name is "Lucy" simply because it was her big sister's choice my two younger sisters were both named by a committee of their older siblings.

There are two ways to be fooled, one is to believe what isn't true, the other is to refuse to believe that which is true.
