    Hi Frank,

Im happy that Supertramp have made an appearance at last. Discovery by ELO might have been the first album that I bought.

      Hi Mike,

I remember that I was introduced to Supertramp around 1979, when I was 13 or 14 years old. The elder sister of a friend of mine had the album 'Breakfast in America' and in the following years me and my friends discovered their music while playing Subbuteo (a type of table soccer), table tennis or constructing a shack as a place of our own. And 'Discovery' was an album my second-oldest brother had. He's 6 years older than me. My eldest brother was a genuine Beatles-fan, but the other one was a fan of many. I remember albums by John Denver, Neil Diamond, Kate Bush, Bob Dylan, Fleetwood Mac, Cat Stevens, The Eagles and, as I said, E.L.O. I thank him for that.

      Cheers,
      Frank

        Hi Frank,

I had an uncle who gave me a pile of vinyl albums and BreakFast In America was one. There were also a few Dylan albums and 6 or 7 Ry Cooder and Tea For The Tillerman by Cat Steven’s. Sadly I no longer have any vinyl. It’s become popular again and everyone appears to be collecting.

Im a prog rock fan and Focus are a band that I saw a few years ago. Did you have any Dutch bands as favourites Frank?
        Regards

          Hi Mike,

As to Dutch bands, I didn't really have any favourites, but I like The Golden Earring and The Cats, but also Kayak, Shocking Blue, Earth & Fire, Sandy Coast, The Dizzy Man's Band (with singer Jacques Kloes being from my hometown), The Nits, Direct and Anouk.

          Cheers,

My better half presents a live radio show on Sunday mornings from 9 to 11, British Summer Time, at Sid Valley Radio. He concentrates on mod, soul, blues and jazz and even lets me choose one of the tracks each week, known as the Housewife's Choice.

Most weeks he includes a Beatles, Bowie and Blur track - the three B's - and a separate threesome. Last Sunday he played three tracks written by Bob Dylan for other artists, plus one sung by Dylan himself. The theme was a battle between hits from the 60s in the UK and America, and if anyone fancies listening, there is a replay of his show tomorrow evening from 10pm to midnight. It's purely a labour of love, so I'm just giving him a plug as I particularly enjoyed the show - and he let me suggest many of the tracks this time!

I’ve just seen a photograph of him on the website Caz, beer in hand. It says that he thinks that gin should be supplied free on the NHS to over 65’s. Tell him it should be over 55’s.

I’m not with my albums at the moment John but I’ve also got a Mayhem album. I think it’s Chimera. I’m pretty sure I’ve got Death’s first album too.

Celtic Frost nearly made my list.

You can’t beat a bit of easy listening music

Not sure if anyone liked a somewhat obscure band from the East End of London called, originally, The Baseball Boys. Better known now as, The Outfield. Play Deep was one of many great albums by this band.

For those that like Rush, another Canadian 3-man band was Triumph and the album Allied Forces.

Just found The Outfield on Spotify Jerry. I hadn’t heard of them to be honest but I’ll certainly give them a listen. I remember Triumph though. I used to have an album or two on vinyl but I can’t recall which ones. Again, just looking on Spotify I saw the cover of the album Allied Forces and that maybe one of the ones that I had but I can’t be sure. Another band to re-visit.

I’m listening to Play Deep now. Sounds good. Thanks for the tip Jerry. It’s always good to find a band that you’ve never heard before.

Bit of light rock. Triumph were better though. Neither in the same class as Rush though of course.
