Jon, you're not too far from the African Lion Safari. That was my hangout for a few years.

I recommend college hockey in America. Professional hockey isn't what it used to be with all the fighting and the fans bloodthirstily clamoring for it. College hockey begins in October and games are played on Friday and Saturday evenings for the most part. Most schools have a no-drinking policy at the stadiums and the fans are typically more knowledgeable about the sport. Of course the University of Minnesota would be the place to go. There are also many rival high school border games such as International Falls, MN vs Fort Francis, Ontario.

Indeed yes, and that Safari Park is just around the corner from the Westfield Heritage Centre, they used to do US Civil War reenactments every summer.
Have never been to the Safari Park but I have been at the reenactments quite often.
Did you work inside the Park?

The Safari park is fun. You used ti be able to camp there and you could hear the animals at night. Depending upon the season, I should think a trip to Stratford and the Festival would be a To-do thing.

Some of the best sushi I ever had was in Belleville, down on front st.

Cheap and fast and the staff were great too.

Other that that, a decent farmers' market, and a couple of acceptably indecent strip clubs, there's really not much to Belleville.

              Hello Magpie!

So, sushi, strip club and Belleville McFarlands (hockey world champion of 1959!) memorabilia from Belleville.

              Thank you!

              All the best

No, I have six kids, so I'd do what Mike commented about, camp there and enjoy the sounds of the animals. We planned on going back this summer but life got in the way. For sure next summer.

The Peek-A-Boo's closer to the highway. The Cabaret is closer to the sushi bar. If you see Jaguar, give her my regards.

If it's hockey you're into, stop off in Kingston and visit the (real) Hockey Hall Of Fame, and maybe track Doug Gilmour down and buy him a beer

I'm in an area of Japan that is famous in Japan for its fresh fish. I have sushi at least 3 times a week at about $3.50 for 6 pieces. It's much cheaper than the beer.

I agree that professional hockey in North America is not what it use to be (the NHL I mean) but for different reasons, I wont go into that now, as I get so upset ( I use to LOVE the National Hockey League.. now I can hardly watch it)

Anyway, African Lions Safari is amazing!! however I did once see monkeys pull all the wires from under the car infront of me... was crazy.

seems like there are a few of us on the boards in this area...we should plan our own Ripper conference (as I could not make it to London this year) .. HAHA we could try it for London Ontario

                        Hello Steadmund!

                        London, Ontario.

Yes and there are five Montreals in the world.

                          Good day!

Yes London Ontario, it is in between Detroit Michigan USA and Toronto Ontario Canada, about 2 hours away from either by car (about 2 1/2 hours from Buffalo New York USA where I am).

nice area too, wouldnt be a bad place for a conference.. 2014 anyone? (then again, I do not think they do a North American conference any longer..)

                            Hello Steadmund!

Now the following thing; if I ever plan to go southwards in the US, New Mexico is probably a lot more peaceful place than a tv-series I'm following now suggests?

                              Hello there!!

Sad as this may seem, I don't travel too much in my own country (outside of the Northeast, I do go to Pittsburgh PA, and Cleveland OH semi regular) and I do go to Las Vegas NV now and again.....as far as New Mexico goes...I have never been there....probably not as bad as it is on the show you are watching.

I do need to travel more

There's a small town just north of Scranton, PA where we stop whenever we travel south. Quiet town, lovely people, good restaurant.

We usually swing by Cincinnati on the way back to visit a friend. Nice place, but driving there is horrendous.
