Can't believe those fools do not see the greatness of Margaret Thatcher, or the mindless idiocy of celebrating the death of a Prime Minister...er, well, I do live in the U.S. so...yeah, maybe I can believe it.
and Judy was great.

Despite the media attempting to whitewash her life and death , i reckon its about 50-50 in liking and loathing. Having endured those horrendous times personally i was glad to see the back of her. It has to be remembered she laid waste to large areas of the north and created mass unemployment by destroying manufacturing industries in Britain, while promoting greed and selfishness as virtues leading to the massive gulf between rich and poor.
Unfortunately it was always going to be the case that her death would open old wounds but instead of people being on the streets celebrating the death of a demonic figure from the past , I would rather they were out opposing the bedroom tax, privatisation of the NHS or the other attacks on the least well off, because she may be gone but her disciples continue her contempt for working class people.

Someone described as the Sun's "political editor" is quoted as saying:
"It's a hugely offensive song and it's offensive that people are buying it ..."
Sorry, but I think the Sun's one-word comment on the deaths of more than 300 Argentine sailors in 1982 still takes some beating in the offensiveness stakes.

Totally agree Chris, and the Sun Newspaper's treatment of the Hillsborough victims and their families was highly offensive, not to say dishonest. And that's before we even get into the hacking issues. The Sun and its parent company is the very last organisation that should be preaching to us about respect.

So the BBC has gone into censorship mode and announced that in the chart rundown at the weekend, which always plays the chart songs, only a short clip od 'Ding Dong' of 'up to 5 seconds' will be played as part of a news item.In so doing the BBC has managed to come up with a compromise that pleases niether the anti Thatcher campaigb who see it as censorship and a whitewash nor her supporters who thought it should be ignored altogether and not played at all.
Of course the thatcher accolytes have launched there own chart campaign with a song supporting her ,it remains to be seen if the BBC will only play 5 seconds of that if they manage to force it into the charts.

Described on the group's 'Offishal' website as "Meant as neither a pro - nor anti-Thatcher song. It revolved around the idea that no-one was too sacred to get the piss taken out of ..."
So these Thatcher fans have picked a song intended to "take the piss" out of her. They really aren't that bright, are they?

Anyhow, the Notsensibles are squarely behind the bid:
Dad-of-three Mike, of Burnley, Lancs, who is now a nurse, said: “It was a satirical song — a leg-puller. We don’t want to celebrate someone’s death as such.
“I’m extremely gutted by her death. I have a tattoo of her in a very personal place.”
Guitarist Steve Hartley, 52, added: We want to knock “Ding, Dong! off the top spot. We believe the Tories are buying multiple copies to help.”

This is the way they used to do these things, courtesy of Irving Berlin and Mildred Bailey:
Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.
When that man is dead and gone
We’ll go dancing down the street
Kissing everyone we meet
When that man is dead and gone
What a day to wake up on
What a way to greet the dawn
...
When they lay him twelve feet deep
I’ll be there to laugh, not weep
When that man is dead and gone
