  • JtR Identity Theory Awards

Whether we believe the JtR Identity theory sound or absurd should be put to one side for these awards. Intended as a light hearted (that's light hearted not heated) way of exploring some of the main theories again in light of certain characteristics.

So, I think the first award has to be the award for the most entertaining theory. Please make your nominations.

My nomination for the most entertaining theory is the Royal Conspiracy theory. It has:
    * characters from the highest levels of British society at its centre
    * conspiracy and chicanery in spades
    * secret children and false imprisonment
    * it has sporned more films than any other theory (I think) with some of our best actors - Christopher Plummer, Michael Caine and Johnny Depp.

Is there any other theory that could challenge this nomination.

    Worst Conspiracy Theory ever!

The Royal Conspiracy Theory is tough to beat; but a different version has MJK working at the Cleveland Street Men's Club and 'brothel.' (In this theory the brothel swung both ways, boys and girls) Armed with information gathered Mary Kelly foolishly tries to blackmail Eddy (PAV), threatening to expose his supposed homosexual behavior. Needless to say this theory doesn't surface until after the raid on the Men's Club in late 1889 but it has the all the right elements attached: a conspiracy of whores; sexual scandal, police cover-up, Free Mason killers, a prince who likes little boys, and a queen.

Yeah, the Royal Conspiracy theory is pretty unbeatable.

It has been extremely influential and, for reasons which I can't quite explain, it refuses to die despite a mountain of evidence to the contrary.

Personally, I have a soft spot for the theory proposed by a member of the public at the time, that the murders were committed by a blood thirsty ape who evaded the police by hiding up trees, before hiding the knife and quietly locking itself back in it's enclosure.

I think she may have mistaken The Murders In The Rue Morgue for a nature text book!

Either that or she'd beenon the gin and laudanum!

Can I nominate Pierre's mystery suspect? Admittedly, he never produced a scrap of evidence but my God was he entertaining!

You can still be entertained by Pierre if you follow him/her on twitter. S/he's already been blocked by Hallie Rubenhold which might actually mean Pierre is not as yampie as we've been led to believe!

Don’t think there really was one.

There are two ways to be fooled, one is to believe what isn't true, the other is to refuse to believe that which is true.

Insane gynecologist was always funny to me personally, as my dad is a GYN.

I think Elamarna wrote up a summary/list of all the clues pierre gave. but I think the gist of it was that it was someone rather high up in the police force.

Vinnie was brought into this? Depressed (depressive?) decadent 19-cent symbolist art never harmed anyone.

                            Or did it?

Goes to explain why Andrew despises the "Goth" label he's so inescapably attributed...
