Sorry to hear that Steady, as it's just starting to get into summer over here! Mind you the weather has still been unpredictable, but can't say that snow has been a part of it!

Only another couple of months and the footy season will be underway again. Time flies....

well the 2011 fixture is out and looks like a hard year for my boys in Brisbane (not just because of the floods either)... but looks like we only have to face Geelong once... so I guess thats a plus!!

How does it look for the rest of you??

Hey Steady,

Haven't had a chance to have a look at the roster for this year yet but I seem to remember hearing somewhere that we (Richmond) have to play the Gold Coast Suns in their first home game......which isn't exactly the best draw to have as nobody wants to be the first team to be beaten by the new kids on the block!

Expecting a good year from Brissy this year, especially in the wake of the floods you mentioned....they'll fire up for it.

Hey Adam, good to hear from ya! Yes I am expecting a good year for Brisbane (well better than last year anyway!!), and ouch first Goldcoast home game huh? we drew them week 7 and week 21 but both at tha Gabba I think... should be fun fun fun...week 6 and week 13 should be fun.... we should place a friendly wager those weeks this year.. what do you say? Remember I am an American, so maybe we can wager something USA for something Australian.. might be fun

Supe....no.. not a Swans supporter... ohhh nooooo see you in week 11 and week 24...no offense, don't mean to bash the Swans, they are just the team that when I first started getting into the sport always were beating the Lions (or so it did seem with what limited coverage we were getting here in the U.S.A).

On the big plus side.. looks like I will get to watch most of the season again as in the States ESPN360 is once again going to broadcast most of the season live (and replays) streaming on the website!!! made for a great year for me last time, as well, untill then, there were very few games ever broadcast on American T.V.

Don't worry about Don or the Swans, they are an ageing team living on past glories, they've lost the coach that guided them to their most recent Premiership and they will have further competition in the next couple of seasons when Greater Western Sydney joins the AFL as well. In short, they're stuffed.

I'd be happy to have a little wager on the Lions-Tigers games, any suggestions?

sorry for the delay... really bad weather here has made my internet a bit buggy... but hmm what would be a good wager.. let me see, are you a fan of any American sports, Baseball,Football,Basketball,Hockey? we could bet a Team Jersey or something, if I win you can get me the new Lions gurnsey.. and if you win, I will get you one of what ever team you like here... much cheaper than buying one and shipping it.. the stores cost so much ( my last order from Brisbane cost me $45 in shiping)... on that bet i will haveto warn you, I am somthing of a giant... so I would need the biggest size you could find hahaha....

thats just one idea... or doesnt have to be a jersey, could be anything American you would want.. what do you think?

Hmm. I don't really follow any American sports in particular.....i'd be happy to bet a Lions guernsey on one of our games this season though. Since you're in NY, it could even be just something from there....plenty of time to give it some thought, let's just hope both our teams get off to a good start in the meantime!

Yeah, that works for me.... but just imagine how good you would look in a NY Yankees jersey hhaha.. sorry, as I said I am a big fan of baseball.....but all things NY or even American for that matter will work, just say the word..

You know, I can't explain it, but I do have the feeling we are both going to have pretty good years... not saying there is a finals bid... but who knows eh? I just don't wanna lose to the Swans haha.... bad enough I know Geelong will destroy us (and my brother is a Cats supporter).. but all in all looking foward to a great season, and week 7 playing Gold Coast for the first time (we get to play them at the Gabba.... if the Gabba is still standing that is)

speaking of which... have the terrible weather conditions there been bad for you? and well, how bad is it really... is Brisbane really a disastor area?... I do hope you are safe!

Your brother's team has had a pretty good run of things but not sure how they will cope without Ablett & Co.....I agree that I think we will have pretty good years (now we'll probably finish 16th and 17th lol.)

New York Yankees could work - I'll barrack for them since I don't have a team! And Milwaukee in the NBL, only because the Aussie, Andrew Bogut, plays there.

Nah we're pretty safe down here in Tassie from the weather, Queensland has been copping it big time though - fortunately there's a great community spirit up there and they'll hopefully get back on track pretty quickly, and get a decent break from the weather. One of the dangers of living in a tropical place, I guess.

Oh my...the snow seems to have stopped ... for now.. was a fun few weeks here i'll tell ya... but I would look at the calendar and realize.. just a few weeks till the Lions start their march towards the grand finals .

Adam.. good choice of a Yankees jersey ( not that I will have to buy one.. since Brisbane is not going to be beat this year!! hahah) if you win, just imagine how cool it'll be to walk around in a NY jersey... then you can tell everyone you use to play there...I bet that would get a few pints bought for you.

i'm glad we didnt place this wager last season.. those Brisbane jerseys were terrible,, with that cartoon Lion... that is fixed this year, from what I hear anyway.. still that stupid cartoon face... but better design...by the way, I know I mentioned it before, how large can you get Jerseys there ( the web site only goes up to XL.. and well, as I said I am a giant that would never work, and speaking fo which, what size would you wear? just incase Brisbane actually does lose (never!!)

also, do you have an Email address or anything that may be better to get info from, so we can exchange address's and what not?

Hey Steady,

Well to be honest, Richmond played their first match last night and were very disappointing - it's only the NAB Cup, a warm-up to the official season and a chance to trial some new rules and what not, but we got pretty soundly beaten by both Carlton and Collingwood - probably the two worst teams to lose to! So hopefully your Lions can perform a bit better, eh?

Yeah i'd be an XL too, though American and Aussie sizes are sometimes different I think? Yeah by all means you can PM me or e-mail me at wenty13@bigpond.com .
