Hello Mike: That was really very, very witty indeed ! I appreciate people with wit as well as good manners, it makes a real change from the snakes I have encountered here so far. With No wit, cynicism and only bitterness. You would think maybe a lover has jilted them !

      Mike, there is also Amon-Ra.

In reference to: They seek him here... they seek him there... they seek him everywhere ! It was not a reference towards myself but more to the real Jack the Ripper. Isn't true that they seek him here, they seek him there and everywhere with every story and every suspect and he still remains elusive as he was, 100 years ago ?

It's not Amon-Ra you want to be careful of, it's his Mummy!

          Hi scarletpimple,

At least I didn't speculate out loud that English was not your first language. That was witless as well as rude.

I agree, Mike. Every time another lover jilts me I can go and put the kettle on.

                  Hello Caz

There is nothing wrong in speculating out loud and by no means I took it as "witless" nor "rude" as you point out as there is nothing wrong in what Victoria said. It was merely an observation.

Are you saying that you are illiterate in a foreign language and that you can speak... only English ? Is that correct ?

                    Hi scarlet,

I am only really comfortable communicating with people in English. Luckily for me, I'm not expected to communicate here in anything else. I would be a trifle miffed with myself if anyone were to read my posts and think that English might not be my first language.

But in my experience, some of the best communicators here don't have English as their first language (and I take my bonnet off to them), while some of the worst communicators do.

                    Love,

                    Caz

                        Hello Caz

I see. Well, I didn't take it as an insult and this is the best way to take it, otherwise the smallest things would make us feel miffed, angry or bitter. To err, is human, to forgive, divine !

Well scarlet, we can't all be divine. I forgive you - for everything. But don't beat yourself up if you find forgiveness harder.

The only small thing that ever made me bitter was my first husband when he brewed his own. I would have preferred him to make me Harvey Wallbangers but you can't have everything.

Thankfully I have been spared the other kind of bitter, but I've heard it can turn sour middle-aged crones into sour old crones - and that's if they're lucky.

But I bet you are as gallant and masculine as your namesake. I'm not wrong, am I?

                          Love,

                                Goodday Steve Powell,

Excuse the Carollian conversation in the background, but this IS "Pub Talk".

Did you not cast the first stone by accusing Steve Parks of forging the Maybrick Diary?
