  • My significant other and I saw "Coraline" last night. In 3-D.

    Visually stunning beyond all words.

I'm sure the regular version is wonderful, but if you have the opportunity to see it in 3-D, do it. May cost a few dollars more than your regular ticket price, but so very, very worth it.

We're going to try and round up some friends to go with us and go a second time!

      • After hearing the sad news regarding James Whitmore passing away, I will be dusting off my "Shawshank Redemption" and watching it tomorrow.

          • Last night, I watched Hit and Run with low expectations. Actually, it was pretty good. It sort of has a 1940s film noir feel about it.

            • Guilty pleasure time.

I saw "Hysteria: The Def Leppard Story" last weekend.

I don't particularly like Def Leppard (first 3 albums excepted) and I think Joe Elliot is a complete jerk, but I thought the movie was pretty darned good, especially for a made-for-TV jobbie.

              • 'Key Largo' was on again last weekend. Bogart and Bacall. Edward G Robinson, Claire Trevor, one of the Barrymores. Black and white. Good stuff.

                  Hi Stan,

I thought it had a lot of potential, but went off the rails with the madness stuff.

Interestingly, they seem to have arrested someone in connection with the real case.

                  • That's interesting LTowell except that girl is more like the Frances Coles of the case. Maybe he's the guy or perhaps a halfhearted copycat. The accounts I have don't even list her as a potential victim. At least, they have him for that one it appears.

Ah. See what a half-assed glimpse at the news report leads to?

                      • Saw "Coraline" in 3-D last weekend. Mere words can't begin to do it justice. Just an amazing movie-going experience, a true visual feast. Henry Selick was the perfect choice to bring it to the big screen.

I follow Neil Gaiman on Twitter and he's posted several times that the 3D version will only be out for a couple of weeks in the US. (It'll get bumped by the Jonas Brothers concert movie.) Then it'll just be the "regular" version, which I'm sure is wonderful. But I'm spoiled now and can't imagine seeing it that way.

If you have the option of seeing it in 3-D, do it.

There was DNA on victim two so let's hear about that match.

I agree, nice easy going film, with a whole lotta heart! Hope they make a sequel!

I watched Ocean's 11, 12, and 13 during the week, and The Italian Job, featuring Mark Whalberg.

I love all four films, and quite enjoyed seeing them again, it being a while since we last watched them.

I have the Prom Night Remake to watch, but will wait until the weekend.

                              • Not recently watched - but definitely going to be watched here at 4.20 today on Channel 5: the superb Murder By Death (1976), with a star cast featuring the incomparable Alec Guinness as blind butler, Besonmum.

I can't wait. If anyone here has not seen this one before, try to catch it. It's an absolute scream.

                                Love,
