Do you think they were placed there intentionally? I don't quite understand why they took the car back to Lenox Mall. They knew there would be search for her. I'm still thinking about these grass clippings. Either they were sloppy or it was intentional, or they didn't care. I don't know, Jukka.
Till later.

2. The hit causing her the head-bleed took place on their lawn. Thus the grass clippings! Yes, I mean, that they originally meant to take her away in her Mercury Comet.
3. But after forcing her to take off her clothes they got an idea to take the Mercury Comet to some remote area and return it later to Lenox Square. Meaning to misslead the investigators.
4. After taking the car to Lenox Square the guy seen later with the middle-aged man and Mary in Raleigh took a bus or a train to the real destination. Because things were about to happen, no-one paid attention to him!
OK, I have no idea, how far or near the bus and train stations were from Lenox Square at the time, but do you find this pattern possible?
All the best

Hi Jukka,
I hadn't thought about her going home, but maybe that is what happened. I definitely think they were trying to be clever and misleading and I think the car was returned there after whatever happened to her happened. I think you are right about them originally planning to use her car.
At the time, all we had here were buses and the schedules were sometimes way off. Sometimes buses didn't show up at all. The Marta lines were not laid down until the 1970's. So if they commuted from her car, they either took a bus, a taxi, or another car.
Doesn't it make you nuts, not knowing what happened?! My husband's uncle was an Atlanta detective. He passed away years ago, but I'm going to ask his daughter-in-law, who is a good friend, if she ever heard him talk about Mary's case. I doubt she'll remember anything, or if he ever mentioned it. I'll have to wait until she comes back from her July 4th camping trip.
Best...

This is pretty intriguing, isn't it? I have a sense of unease when hearing of a murder conviction with no victim's body! I will have to look at this a bit closer. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.
That burning branch in the road is a creepy aspect!

The whole thing is creepy.
His girlfriend reportedly wants the van destroyed in spite of it's being vital evidence I think that's strange to say the least
I haven't seen the film but the last I heard Milat went on a hunger strike because they took his television away, which in my opinion he shouldn't have in the first place,so they gave it back
