Hi all
The Met refused to reopen the case.
The following article quotes a Detective Constable Adam Bailey saying, “To link Harold Jones to any murder other than those for which he is convicted is purely speculative and without any evidential basis.”

There was one important issue which has never been sastifactorily covered and that is whether or not Jones owned a motor car, I am reliably informed that he did not but could drive.
I am aware that he did work as a mechanic and it has been suggested that on that basis he would have had access to cars. Because clearly the killer of some of these victims must have had access to a car to transport the bodies. But if he didnt then I would suggest that goes some way to eliminating him.

Is the mechanic job you mention Shaw and Kilburn's motor repair and spray shop or somewhere else?
And did you ever get the opportunity to interview Jones daughter?

It also seems that depsite his previous murder conviction he fell under the radar of the police and was never looked into as a possible suspect.

Of course, it’s only circumstantial. As the police statement said, there’s no evidence of him being the killer, but this new information is, to me, a big step forward in making it more likely that he was responsible.
Regarding the police statement, I guess it makes sense. If they can’t get beyond these circumstantial things to something more concrete, then there’s nothing to investigate and no reason to allocate resources to it.

Wow. That’s very interesting indeed. Do you know if he was working there during the murders?
I re-watched Dark Son last week and noticed that his daughter recalled he was employed as a sheet metal worker in Acton, so I assume it’s the same place.
He seems to be far more interesting than Mungo Ireland or the “former Policeman”, & the Freddie Mills thing just seems like a Gull/Sickert et al type tall story…

That’s huge. That links him with the scene of the crime, whereas before, all that was known was that he lived in the general area of London where the crimes were committed.

I wonder if that contributed to The Met going cold on a Hammersmith Murders review?
That and the cost, lack of surviving evidence and the fact they conducted one in 2007 I guess.
Tantalising that he worked at Shaw and Kilburn tho...
