Would love to know what Donald Rumbelow thoughts would be on these possible alterations.

I have an open mind to all this and I admit I'm not as familiar with the MJK pictures as perhaps I should be.
Maybe a comparison of different versions of the MJK picture in question might be useful?
Wicks info referencing the observations from two authorities (Bond and Hibbert) from a primary source re the mutilations around the eyes, clearly weakens the case for the reliability of using the eyes for identification. Altered pictures or not.Sapere Aude

Just my opinion but could the circled part in DJA's post [ 4220 ], be a stab wound, similar to the one's on Mary's left arm ?

I was always under the impression that the piece circled in DJA's photo was a shadow formed by a flap of skin which was hanging off her forehead and covering her right eye. To me, currently, it looks like a piece of flesh which was cut/"skinned away" extending from the center of her forehead to her right temple & down along the right side of her face (alongside her right cheek). And, the flap of skin is hanging over.

The possible placement of the eye proposed by DJA is (to my eye) too high and too central to the position of the face/skull/head as we see photographed. Unless the lady in question was a cyclops then the cranial features do not lend to an eye socket in such a placement
