) is a Sports Medicine phD, so she rattled these off to me. The sport most likely to cause Colles' fracture (the classic wrist fracture from falling) is gymnastics, followed by ice skating. It is rarely seen in football, basketball, soccer, rugby, or hockey. There is a lot of falling in those sports, just apparently the wrong kind. They do have other kinds of wrist fractures.
