    Hello Jon. Thanks.

"If Stride had to live with such a man we might understand that at some point in their relationship she realized she could do better."

Now there, I completely agree. I think she left because she thought she could do better.

    Cheers.

    • To all,

It is apparent the police were looking for 'Jack', so while Kidney would have been questioned, he did not fit who they were looking for. I'm not suggesting the police were stupid but it is possible he slipped through.

Count how many of the Ripper suspects have been questioned and then count how many have been convicted of the WM. The excuse he would have been questioned is one that must be applied to everyone.

      Cheers

        Hello CD.

"Precisely, and the police would have had to have been ten kinds of idiot not to question Kidney and ask him for an alibi. I have to assume that either he provided them with an alibi that checked out or that he was able to convince them of his innocence."

Don't look now, but, for once, we are in total agreement.

        Cheers.

          Hello Roy.

"The excuse he would have been questioned is one that must be applied to everyone."

True enough. Yet not all those who were questioned were ex-lovers whom had recently been dumped by Liz.

          Cheers.

          • Lynn,

The charge wasn't dropped by Liz, she didn't show up to testify against him. Why she didn't show is anyone's guess.

For her to have him charged in the first we could assume it was serious enough.

            Cheers

              Hello DRoy,

And how would the police know that Kidney wasn't Jack?

It's already been pointed out in this thread that Kidney doesn't fit the profile of a killer so how could he be responsible for many murders?

                  Cheers

I think he's a good fit as a killer. He fits the sailor theory. He was a heavy drinker. He had venereal disease (could have been from a prostitute). He knew the area intimately. He also seems to have insinuated himself in the police investigation. In fact, the argument for Hutchinson has many parallels with Kidney and I would suggest Kidney is more likely.

                      Hello DRoy,

Until the police have the killer in custody, a profile doesn't mean squat. It is also quite possible that the killer doesn't match the profile which is an educated guess at best. At this point, the police had no clue who Jack was and a sketchy profile of who he might be to say the least. Therefore, no one could be ruled out.

                      c.d.

P.S. As for profiles, could any profiler have guessed that the BTK killer lived in the suburbs, was active in his church and concerned himself with the heighth of his neighbor's lawn?

                      • There are 3 Canonicals who seem to be having some issues with their men at the time of their deaths,... Liz Stride did stop seeing Kidney very recently before she dies, it appears at least that Kate and John were not as inseparable as John had claimed in his statements, and Mary Kelly cleared Barnett out at the start of the month.

I believe its only Kidney though that does not continue to be on speaking terms with his ex after the split, we know that John let Kate pawn his boots Friday night, and we know Barnett came to bring money to Mary almost daily since his departure.

So as far as aggrieved parties possibly being culpable for Liz Stride...there may be something there that is not present in the other cases. We also hear that Liz had left Kidney before...for month at a time, but he thought "she liked him better than any other man", ...implying the reason she left, and why she would return.

                        Best regards

Which amounts to the same--no one to prosecute.

"Why she didn't show is anyone's guess."

Perhaps she got over her snit?

                          Cheers.

Well, if they are thinking in terms of one person doing all, an alibi for any ONE would suffice.

                            Cheers.

I think I've hit it. You could propose a single alibi whilst I could propose more than one. (heh-heh)

                              Cheers.

Not sure about profile, but, to put it simply, that poor silly billy killed no one.
