Is it really likely that Chandler wouldn’t have said: “Hang on, you can’t see the lock from the steps!”

Sorry but this point is a non-starter.
    MA0914:

Baxter: Did he tell you what he was there for?
Chandler: Yes; he said he came to look if all was right.

Pretty vague, and it was you that told me about Chandler being caught drunk on duty.

That's right, and I know what happened next...

After repeated refusals to go down (to the cellar), Jack got frustrated and threw her down on the paving stones.
She screamed three times, but not very loudly.

My exact thought when I saw this pic was 'why didn't he take her down there?' It would have been completely shielded. And you're right, that would explain the 'no' that Cadoche claims. That having been said, he strangled her first so she was insensible. He could easily have dragged her down the stair and worked on her there, and that would have protected him from anyone looking out of an upstairs window. Thing is, he either lives on the very edge or he doesn't. If he does, then he kills her in the backyard anyway because part of the thrill for him is the possibility of being caught. If he doesn't, he drags her body down those stairs to have his fun. So Annie doesn't get to refuse and stay above ground if he intends to take her down to the cellar.

Coincidently, that's about how far short Louis' whip handle was from reaching Liz's body.

. I reckon the padlock wasn't even visible from the bottom house step, let alone the middle.
One would have had to go at least as far as the cellar steps to check the padlock, and at the time of day in question, maybe further.
Any normal person would have done that anyway

The cellar door was basically under the house. It's dark down there.
Imagine what might be in there though - probably some nice sharp knifes and a rabbit.

So that’ s why Sutton suddenly turned murderous - the play! You know, it’ s not a common thing to make tour debut as a serial killer at the ripe age of 53. Any thoughts on that?

    53 years of age actually.

RLS based his novella on him.

It's return as a stage play was most likely the catalyst for the murders.

It could be the other way around - you may be the only person on these boards who is unable to word yourself in a manner that allows for other posters to understand you. Itīs not all that easy to understand who you are lashing out against in your posts.

Anyways, I will (merrily) leave you to your mumbling and obviously bitter existence now. Good luck with Sutton, by the way - I read that he was a small, shy, studious, quiet, partially deaf and unambitious man, whose hobbies were quiet ones like fishing (good on him) and poetry. "The sweetest of men", as he was described by a colleague in his obituary. And that he was 51 at the time of the Ripper murders.

Doesnīt sound much like the man of "great strength" the police were hunting for to me. Then again, being that stupid, how would I know?

    Have a wonderful life.

If we use the obvious measurements, etc available to us,you start to realise just how stupid this thread is.

The steps Richardson did not go down are obviously those leading to the cellar.
