OMG!!! I see what you mean. Just looking up the recipe has made me come over all queasy??? This has certainly made me review my opinion of Kosminski's "unusual" dietry habits, who could blame him, I think in his place that I'd be dining "alfresco" too!!!

re: New Members & Private Messaging Privileges
Hello Auntyjoan, and welcome to Casebook. I'm glad you decided to stay, because we're all very interested in your research efforts.
I believe the reason that Chris and others are having trouble sending private messages to you is that Admin modified some message board rules this summer. Spammers disguised as new members were getting into system and causing problems. Here is the relevant thread: http://forum.casebook.org/showthread...394#post184394
I'm not sure how long a new member is required to wait for private messaging privileges, but you might wish to email Admin and ask. Since Paul knows you and can put in a good word for you as a serious researcher Admin might choose to give you full membership privileges immediately.
Hope this helps.
Best regards,
Archaic

thanks Archaic (and everyone who has welcomed me)
Thanks for the info re PM-ing. I have already sent an email to Admin and hope they will give me full priviledges soon.
I've only just returned to looking at all my files after putting them away some time ago. Just tonight i thought I would go onto the Jewish website and update some of my things. I typed in Lawender and many of the names are spelt Lejwand. I found a Malka Lejwand marrying a Michel Gesz Kozminski, rather late, in 1899 near Kielce - these things always give you a jolt when you read them. Must be a co-incidence to have a Lajwand/Kozminski marriage!
Tomorrow I will post the names of Martin's siblings and who they married. I don't know where it is, having moved and lots of things still plonked in the garage, but I was given a photo of his sister Ada as an older woman, when she was living in Norfolk Road, as Lawender did. They were quite well off. All that side of the family did well.

So here's a question I'm sure someone can handily answer before I break the interweb. Anyone ever check for records under the name Aaron Abrahams? Because if he was living with and associating with his family who used Abrahams, wouldn't that be the name someone would file a complaint under? The early bird might get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

Besides. I'm a committed Ernie the eager beaver suspect proponent. That friendly guy at the pub who never made any list because he seemed so nice and bought cops drinks. But the surname thing bothers me with Kosminski. That's a nice mystery. The early bird might get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

I am going to post some information about Martin (and Samuel) Kosminsky's family. I would like to place it in the memory of a lovely Canadian woman who was taken from this life far far too early. This is the research she provided me with some years ago - it's the branch of her own Kosminsky family:-
As you all know, Martin (b 1845) and Samuel's((b1857) father was Marks Kosminsky. He was a furrier and came from the town of Kalisch, in Poland. He was born approx 1805 and I believe he died, in Poland, in 1873. He married Sarah (I think she might have been Sura Sztein but not sure). Sarah/Sura died in London in 1878 - 5 Spital Street.
Marks had a sister called Sary Mulcha Kosminsky. She married a man called Philip Ring. I will say at this point that all the names I am listing, with the exception of Marks, came to England. Eventually Ring became part of a very famous furrier company in its day. All these members of the family did very well in their chosen careers.
Marks Kosminksy had 7 children. Three boys and four girls. There was Rose, who married a Knopf. Hannah (Annie) b 1850, died New York 1937. She married a Percival. As an aside, in his Will, Martin left several legacies to this part of the family. Then there was Haider (Ada),1850-1930. Ada was my friend's gt-gt grandmother. She married a Stevens. They eventually lived in Norfolk Road, Dalston, as did Lawende. You all know about Martin and Samuel's wife and kids so I won't repeat it. Then there was Zara who married a Marks. There was quite alot of intermarrying between the cousins of the next generation, which is quite complicated.
Going back to Marks' sister, Sary who married Philip Ring, they had 4 children, 1 boy and 3 girls. They were Morris, Esther, Leah and Rachael who married David Spiegal. They would all be first cousins to Martin et el. Rachael and David Spiegal themselves had 3 children, one of them a daughter, who later married a Jack Pizer. I have not researched him and it was way beyond Aaron in any case. Still with me?
Lastly, the final male child to Marks. His name is not known but he apparently went to California during the Gold Rush and made himself a very wealthy man. But he had some sort of accident and died in America. I believe he left all his money to the people who had looked after him. Some of the above families off-spring emmigrated to the States, Canada and South Africa, and of course some stayed in the UK.
There is other information but I think that's enough for today!
