    Hi, Kensei!

lol... I'd surely like to attend that convention as an observer, maybe something meaningful would come out of the debate!

One of those families could have the real answer, i.e. one that could be proven!

While writing this post, I remembered Michael Caine as Inspector Abberline in the TV Mini-Series "Someone, somewhere, knows something"!

    All the best!

      Hi, curious4.

And there's always the JTR files never declassified by the Scotland Yard to avoid compromising the "identities of police informants"!

And as for the other question about relatives, there have already been people claiming to be relatives of the killer, and so we will always have the risk of such people being attention seekers.

I only know that history leaves trails and that it also does leave trails that are not meant to be trails. The only way to find the killer is to understand the sources. That is what I believe.

        Hi, Pierre!

I agree and I was excluding attention seekers, and there can always be persons who truly believe to be related to JTR based on family legends or hearsay who mean well, but are wrong.

But one can never know, maybe there's someone who has real proof or could put us in the right track!

        Regards.

Well nobody alive could have firsthand knowledge who the Ripper was, because at best they would be pushing 130 years old, and humans have a tendency to crap out in their 80s, though occasionally you get someone who sticks around for like 113 years max. So, still dead.

And would've been two years old?

Pierre, this has been documented for some time. Spend a little effort on research. It's public knowledge. Look it up.

Pierre doesn't believe in research, or reading, or much else, hasn't he made that clear.

                        Actually GUT,

he is saying today, that the lyrics of Queens's "Farther to Son" will help us understand the killer, so he does do some reading, most of it is interpreted metaphorically of course

Given the popularity of naming one's father or grandfather as the murderer in other high profile unsolved serial murders, I'm kind of surprised there aren't lots of families out there currently making claims. If only I could trace an ancestor to London in 1888...

You've probably heard about the Lisbon Ripper, who murdered between 3 to 5 women (all prostitutes) in the early nineties. He's often been compared to JTR.

In 2011, while trying to be selected for a reality show, a kid told the production that his father was the Lisbon Ripper, and the man, who was mentally deranged, confessed to the whole thing to a reporter from a sensationalist tabloid and was arrested but later acquitted.

(The murders had already reached statute of limitations but the police considered him a suspect of a more recent murder and decided to pick him up)!

This shows some people will go to extreme lengths to get attention from the media, but it's still possible someone knows the truth and has a way to prove it!
