yup which is what he did-his granparents. and only started his serial killing spree (with true MO/sig) years later. somewhat more sophisticated with ruse being involved and victimology more defined-young women. that being said he ended his killing with his mother (and friend) and turned himself in. which just goes to show you how diverse and odd a serial killer can be in there victimology, time frame, MO/sig, and reason for stopping!!

Thanks, Debs. Did you get any sense that Swanson or anyone else had tried to establish Saunderson's whereabouts prior to December 1888? (The month he was sent to Eastcote).

Interesting case for quite a few reasons though.

That's right, How. He was found unfit to plead similar to Cutbush, so there was no OB trial. The CRIM file is 147 pages of police court testimony, including Bond's statement. His statement covers his observations on the way Augusta's throat was cut. I collected copies of files of some of the cases Bond was involved with where I could a few years ago.

Thanks Roger, for some reason I was under the impression that Swanson had been promoted earlier than that. You live and learn.

Interesting stuff Roger. Thanks for posting this. Is the Chief Inspector Swanson any relation?
