    Hello Malcolm.

"You ask anybody that matters and the C5 holds firm, the only dodgy murders are the other lot, the Coles and Mackenzies/ torsos."

Well, on behalf of those who DON'T matter, I find this whole business rather dodgy. (heh-heh)

    Cheers.

Hello David. Oops, almost missed you.

Well, you are a man who understands symbolism. I have posted elsewhere a story about some who mutilated the face--in particular, the nose and ears.

The reason? "You put your nose where it did not belong."

      Cheers.

        Hello Malcolm.

"Eddowes was the first to have her face mutilated and thus can not be copycat of anyone."

Similarly, Annie was the first to evince organ removal.

"MJK is a hideous mess for one obvious reason only..... only one...... he did not have nearly enough time to mutilate Eddowes like he wanted to, he only had about 5 mins....so he only quickly toyed with her."

But why not invite her back to your place? Plenty of time then.

"the 2nd lesser reason, MJK is an escalation in horror/ perversion, that's all."

So was Eddowes--if by the same hand. And Liz a DE-ESCALATION--if by the same hand.

"he knew this was going to happen next time"

Prescient, eh? But could he predict the cup final? (heh-heh)

        Cheers.

Frankly, Lynn, I would not like to think of you spending too much of the rest of your life trying to support that one.

This is my London we are talking about, at a time when all four of my grandparents were growing up. It's really not very far back in time, and society's criminal elements did not behave so very differently from how they behave today. Countless serial murder victims since the late 1880s have shown the Whitechapel prostitute killings, sadly, to be a long long way from unique.

I simply don't understand the recent trend for seeing this particularly sordid series as something else completely - something that would be truly unique in the long history of criminal behaviour. That makes it fiction, unless you can demonstrate why it's not.

          Love,

          Caz

          • As soon as someone latches on to a suspect, they seem to spend the rest of their days trying to fit a square peg into a round hole; adding or deleting certain victims to make a fit; dismissing or distorting certain evidence and rationalizing less plausible theories as a solution.

Unsolved mysteries are natural breeding grounds for such and this one is at the top of the list. But, admittedly, it would have, long ago, faded from memory if that was not the case. That is the essence of Ripperology. The more mundane study from a strictly historical perspective is not sensational enough and garners little attention or prestige for that type of researcher outside of a small group of people of the same ilk.

I think it's simply that the last 3 killings do not add up.

"That makes it fiction, unless you can demonstrate why it's not."

Sadly, I think everything from the "Double Event" on is simply that.

Here's to all our further research.

              Cheers.

Hmm, now that interpretation suggests to me that, you think that, the killer thought that, his victim thought that, she knew who he was.

Hello Jon. Well, if you are referring to the possibility of blackmail or such, you think correctly. She also may have acquired information inadvertently. Politics may also have played a part.

Besides being a flagrant aping of Chapman's slaying, this might lend a new dimension regarding Kate's belongings being rifled.

As they say, research is ongoing.

                        Hello David. Thanks.

Working on an essay about Isenschmid even now.

                          Hi all,

I have great respect for the 2.1.1.1. reductionists.

But I struggle with accepting MJK as the victim of a boyfriend, overkill copycat or Fenian hit-man. The leisurely atrocity that occurred in that squalid room screams to me unfettered lust murderer. Just sayin...

                            Hello Greg. That's fine.

Can you tell me which previous "lust murder" I should look at in order to compare? I am always ready to research a new angle, given its plausibility.

                            Cheers.

I'm afraid the obvious answer is Eddowes Lynn.

Hello Greg. And the obvious follow up is, Which "lust murder" preceded her?--for comparison purposes, of course.
