Yeah, it just seems to me that someone wants to destroy the old EastEnd and put up a load of steel and glass, looks disgusting!

      Unfortunately they call it progress.

Maybe they should call it regress.

But it has been gong on for decades.

      Or even centuries.

A modern day crime scene might delay the pending redevelopment.

It would likely have to be a pretty horrific one though.

It's too Late for Mitre Square and Dorset Street, but there's still a chance to stave off British Land's plans to tear the heart out of Norton Folgate. Not a specific Ripoer site, I know, but part of his home turf.

Have a look at this and, if you feel so moved, enter an objection.

On a slightly lighter note, I see Russell Edwards' empty Ripper Shop is being marketed as a pop-up shop - please form an orderly queue.

                Seems fitting on two fronts.

                1. Jacky waqs pop-up killer

                2. Edwards was pop-up BS artist.

Little did I know that when I started this thread, I would be re- located a couple of minutes a way.
So now I visit on a almost daily basis in case it is soon lost for ever.

And as I now work in a high glass tower block, I get to see a panoramic view of the city and east London.
And what I see is a sprawling mess of out of place tall glass monstrositys that are ruining the look and feel of a once beautiful historic cit, and all historic landmarks completely oblitarated from sight

                  F#@#k progress!

Your opinion can count. Please follow the link in MrB's post and have a look. Please also see my thread on this board http://forum.casebook.org/showthread.php?t=8695

You do not have to live in Tower Hamlets or even London to register your objection. This is the Nation's history.

Imagine Spitalfields without the market, no Fournier Street and no Elder Street. This is what would have happened in the late 70's had it not been for people like Dan Cruickshank and many others who protested and saved perfectly good historic buildings which now change hands for millions.

Following protests about a proposal by Examplar Properties to fell the trees on Brushfield Street they have now withdrawn their application. Little victories.
