      Michael,

Pearce was City, he had nothing to do with Abberline, Reid and the Met boys.

There is something quite interesting about Pearce that will be revealed, over the coming months, in a well known mag about the subject of Ripperology...cant remember the mags title though

Just quickly so Sam doesnt hurt me.....I do know that Abberline had a hand picked group of men assigned to him, supposedly on the Ripper cases, doing interviews and such...he and some of the group sieved the fireplace ashes in Marys room again Saturday morning... and there was a Pearce or Pearse in that group....I assumed City and Met might merge on specialty issues......in this case, Jack and Fenians...they were both being hunted that Fall.

          Cheers Monty

If you want to guarantee that, Mike (as if I would!), it might help if - when similar circumstances crop up in future - people took a quote from "Thread A" and re-homed it on "Thread B". If the latter doesn't exist as such, and the topic is of potentially wider interest, one can quote from "Thread A" and start one's own "Thread B" with it. Easy peasy

Sorry for being so anally-retentive. Deep down, I'm just a frustrated dictionary compiler
            Kind regards, Sam Flynn

I think what you do with the reminders is an essential element here Sam, its almost impossible not to be tangential when proving or supporting a premise....I just feel bad for you though, cause I think you have been stuck with the role ever since and have to take some strife over it on occasion.

I dont resent the nudges Gareth,.. thanks for them.

              My best regards

Richard William Pearce (and it's spelt PEARCE) was never a member of the Met Police.

                  Hi Rob,

I did spell it Pearce when I referred to Mitre Square, and as I suggested, I had perhaps seen the name as Pearse, which would rule out the Mitre Pearce....but I do believe one man in Abberlines handpicked Task Force of some 6-8 men included a man named Pearse/Pearce.

I dont think you or Monty should be sticklers on where he reports and what he should be in on anyway, Im not talking about a transfer or an official loan....there were City police in Millers Court...and in Goulston. And there were serious investigations going on that called for local knowledge and Fenian knowledge, blending some City and Met investigations....just like the experiences that Abberline possessed. He picked the crew. Did Mitre Square Pearce have that kind of background, Fenian investigations?

I never said it was the same man, I just hinted that MS Pearce deserves a closer look based on his proximity and his vantage point.

                  Best regards Rob

I emphasised the spelling because I've seen it spelt with an 'S' instead of a 'C', the A-Z for example.

Well I think I can be a stickler. What you are saying is pure speculation, without any facts to back it up. There were two Pearce's in H Division, a P.C. and a P.S.

He's being well looked into at this moment in time.

                          Hi Rob,

Am I being overly sensitive or is the tone of your post less than friendly? Didnt think we have any issues. If so, speak up anytime.

                          Best regards, as always.

No issues my end. Being called a stickler didn't go down to well though.

                              Michael,

Lets just say that the evidence so far leads away from your supposition about Pearce.
