Thank you, Smiffy. Although they seem to have been bombarding me with newsletters lately, I haven't received that one!

I resent having to pay two premium subscriptions for this and Ancestry.com - they should join up, or at least offer a discount for each others' members. Given that we have separate websites offering ostensibly the same online census service, I can't help but feel ripped-off by this state of affairs.
      Kind regards, Sam Flynn

I have cancelled both subscriptions ot Ancestry and Find My Past. My local library offers free access to Ancestry, and the East Yorkshire Family History Service based at the Hull Heritage Centre offers free Ancestry and free Find My Past.

I seem to be getting inundated with emails from both Find my Past, Ancestry, and National Archives informing me of these new packages, but everytime you follow the link they send you to a "Enter your credit card details" page!!
        Regards Mike

Someone has just very kindly sent me news of a special offer of free access to all the records on findmypast.co.uk (including the 1911 census) tonight and next Wednesday, to coincide with England World Cup games. The only snag is that you have to register by midnight the day before taking advantage of the offer, so those who don't already have a username and password will have to wait until Wednesday. More details here:

            Dont Waste Your Time

I registered 24 hours before last Satuday's match. In the 3 hours that the site was 'free' I only managed to look at 3 records - and then the actual census page did not load up. They were obviously in melt down.

I have been onto the site tonight - found something I want to view - I am than asked to pay.

I then did a search for the records I found last Saturday - guess what! - they are no longer there!!

It would seem that you have to keep re-registering 24 hours before each match - not something they are making obvious.

Just one big con - I'm off to watch the footie!!!

Yes - I have just had exactly the same experience.

Sorry for wasting people's time with this rubbish.
