This photo of the rear of George Yard Buildings appeared on the other site. I am not sure if I read Wickermans response correctly when he said it was identified as Balliol House, so is not George Yard Buildings. When George Yard Buildings was taken over by Toynbee Hall in 1890 the building was renamed Balliol House and used as

That's a great discovery. How did you stumble across it?
For now we see through a glass darkly, but then, face to face.
Now I know in part, but then shall I know even as also I am known.

From time to time I have this way of asking google couple of etries like: victorian east end, victorian whitechapel, victorian spitalfields, xix london etc. And sometimes something new comes up from index. Last time I remember thats how I've discovered new Dorset Street photo (now popular)

It never rains, but it pours. Here's yet another photo of the rear of George Yard Buildings. I found it while looking to see if I could find an architectural plan of the building, because I'd be intrigued to see exactly how the stairs go. Was the ground floor extension a more recent addition?
