    • I understand that.

(thank you for correcting my stupid mistake)
      Washington Irving:

"To a homeless man, who has no spot on this wide world which he can truly call his own, there is a momentary feeling of something like independence and territorial consequence, when, after a weary day's travel, he kicks off his boots, thrusts his feet into slippers, and stretches himself before an inn fire. Let the world without go as it may; let kingdoms rise and fall, so long as he has the wherewithal to pay his bills, he is, for the time being, the very monarch of all he surveys. The arm chair in his throne; the poker his sceptre, and the little parlour of some twelve feet square, his undisputed empire. "

      • Tabram

I added the total stab wounds of tabrams report by Killien. It states 21 stabs not 39.

Does anyone know the locations of the other 18 stab wounds?

              No Corey,

Killeen is incomplete in the inquest reports, mentionning only the torso organs (+ the cut in the "lower part" and the sternum).
An article of the Daily News (10 August) mentions 9 stabs, I think, in the lower part.

And Swanson in one report wrote that the throat, the body and the "private parts" had been the target.

If the Daily News is correct, there must be 8 stabs in the throat.

              David

              • so I think it is safe to say there were 8 wounds to the throat, nine to the lower body and 21 to the torso??

                thanks

                • Almost, Corey!

                  Organs : 21 stabs
                  Sternum: 1
                  Cut "lower part": 1
Throat: 9 (according to the DN)

So 8 in the "private parts", including the cut.

                  Amitiés,
                  David

This is an interesting sidebar point Sox....the "partition" wall was said to be made of old doors and it was the wall that backed onto the staircase leading to the upper floor, that Elizabeth climbs and has opportunity to see through via the cracks....from I assume, the plaster. Marys bed is less than a foot from it.

A while back on here we were looking at that wall and I believe Sam discovered that a faded "26" was on the wall, on a door that was used to block what was likely at one time an access-way to the upper floors and the door inside the archway. The room was said to have originally to have been a parlour...which explains why the fireplace isnt a traditional cooking hearth style of the period, its even had a mantle I believe.

Just an FYI...in case you missed that thread....I believe its the first time anyone proved the comments regarding the "old doors" as viable.

                        Cheers Sox

I dont sadly corey, and Im sloppy at times with my personal note filings ...but I do know that Sam saved the enhanced photo and Im sure could verify for you that the thread was as stated. Maybe even give you the photo.

I suppose its an old shed door, theres no reason to number the door into the house from the archway, it almost at the courtyard entrance and you have to walk all that way to get to it...but the shed faced onto Dorset, and I guess McCarthy was being Green before his time.

                            Cheers corey

                              This is back to narcissism,

Veiwing his geographic profile, it seems that the killer was more disorganised than organised. He sticks to a relativly small reagon where he kills and doesnt travel more that a mile. Less than that realy.

Maybe this was just his cunningness speaking more than being disorganised. Maybe he didnt fear detection? Maybe he was confident in his ability.

                              Who knows.

Heres a map of the area which I connected four of the murder sites.
