    Hi Bridewell.
Then there's another way of looking at this.

To assume the GSG was written by the killer is to also assume that he thought the "word" could be a useful tool. Therefore, in order to stir up opinion against the Jews, he presumably decided to resort to written messages.

That being the case, doesn't our progression of thought lead us to ask,....why didn't he take the next obvious step, and write letters?

If we believe he is a message writer, then why not a letter writer?
How do you separate the two sentiments, do they not go hand in hand?

Think back to all those letters which at one time "have been" considered authentic, none of them "finger" the Jews.

The "From Hell", doesn't, the "Openshaw" does not, neither "Dear Boss", nor the "Saucy Jack" postcard.
Whoever wrote those letters conveyed only the "challenge to authority", and the obvious, "look what I can do", but nothing about "fingering" Jews.

Quite strange, if we assume "Jack" wrote the GSG.

      Hi All,

The LVP cops were certainly thorough.

Not only did they erase the GSG. They then went on to obfuscate details of its location, content, meaning, spelling, grammar and linage.

Why aren't we smelling a rat?

      Regards,

      Simon

Mainly because in the study of human events, one notices plenty of examples of simple human error. Humans being what they are... instead of complicated and convoluted conspiracies that require synchronization, precision, mutual trust and secrecy that is more successful in lower animals, such as ants and bees, than it is in humans; who conduct their lives on more individualistic levels.

While these lower forms conduct themselves, as a group, in almost perfect harmony, humans never do. Even as good as the Beatles were as a group, their individual proclivities finally did them in.

The Lincoln assassination was a conspiracy... and only Booth was a successful part of it. The others botched their missions; were found out and caught, and hanged as a result.

Even non-conspiratorial group endeavors have their errors. We can be intelligent enough to design spacecraft to launch men into space; only to have Chaffee, White and Grissom die in an explosion because someone was stupid enough to not realize what a pure oxygen environment might enable if an electrical spark took place... Wait a minute... there are conspiracy theorists who think they were murdered to disrupt the Apollo program. Couldn't have been simple human error.

          I digress.
          Best Wishes,
          Hunter

            Hi Hunter,

            The morning of the "double-event".

A "clue" as big as the Ritz.

Two police forces on the spot.

            And what happens?

Three differing written examples of the GSG linage.

Five differing spellings of the word—Jews/Juwes/Jewes/Jeuws/Juews.

            Many differing sentence constructions.

Two differing locations for the GSG.

Simple human error? If this was true then the LVP cops gave a whole new meaning to the word simple.

Let us instead consider all the complicated and convoluted excuses that have been weaved for why this crock of nonsense should be believed.

            Regards,

            Simon

"Why aren't we smelling a rat?"

Perhaps we can always rely on you to tell us we should be smelling a rat.

I think more likely that it was more ineptness, the early hour and the fact that the soon-to-be-erased graffito was writ small on brick in a dark location. All of that should explain the discrepancies you point out.

              Cheers

                Steady Chris,

                You're spoiling Simons point.

The erasure, the misinformation, the ineptness. It all points to a conspiracy of.....a conspiracy of....a con....

What is the conspiracy exactly Simon?

                    Hi Monty

Too true, Monty. But we might bear in mind the police happened upon an unsuspected situation in the early hours of the morning, are suddenly instructed to erase the writing, and then disagree what it was or how it was spelled. The situation was confusing, not the least helped by the fact that two jurisdictions were involved. Is it any surprise, that what we are left with is equally confused? But you know all that.

                        I did Chris,

We have a situation admist a period of high intensity, in darkness, with time pressures and disagreement.

It wasn't a simple as it seems from a deckchair in sun kissed California.

Well I smell a rat, and always have done.
You have the biggest breakthrough in the case up to that date, a large number of police officers of varying ranks around to make certain of the facts. and some people want to belive it was all down to human error.
Were the police really that inept?...All of them?

                                Hello spyglass

I think we make a mistake by looking at the situation with our twenty-first-century perspective, and need to better understand the situation on the ground as well as the internal structure and politics of the two police forces, and the attitudes of the day, etc., etc. Too easy to make a sweeping judgement from our standpoint, in my opinion.

                                Best regards
