Nobody follows this case...? I think it's very similar to a modern day Ripper/Torso scenario

Anyone here research this case anymore? There is a very interesting post back in this thread (I think or the other one) where someone states they saw a mobile forensics lab set up along OP back in 2004. The LI serial killer has been active since 1996, and though the police denied it for years, the knew a serial killer was at work. But what led them to search OP in 2004 I wonder?

Originally posted by RockySullivan View PostYes I think there is a connection between Burke and the killer. Whether burke was involved in the actual murders himself, or he was involved in criminal activity with those involved in the murders, it's not a coincidence that the fbi arrests burke and takes over right away. The Suffolk police have withheld info that could lead to identifying victims and they straight up covered up the shannan gilbert murder claiming she "drowned" when she is plainly murdered. SO i think it's safe to assume either the police themselves (burke) are the murderers or they involved criminally with those who are
Then, I asked myself, if he were would he had tried to get one of his men to do the killing for him? Would he not have done it himself.
Of course, since the prisoner could be directly connected to him, he might have wanted to keep space there . . . There's probably no way to really connect him to the dead bodies.
I'll go back and see who your poi is.
This is going to be very interesting to keep an eye on.

Originally posted by Mayerling View PostRocky there is something regarding some timing going on here. I was listening to the news reports (I live in Queens, which with Brooklyn are the two New York State Counties - Brooklyn is a "borough of New York City as is Queens, an unofficial "4th largest city in the U.S." by population and being a former independent city, and the state of New York's County named "Kings" - which form the eastern western parts of Long Island). When I listening they said that the FBI was wanted on the case from nearly the start, but the police in Suffolk County insisted on doing it by themselves.
The timing issue is this: The head of the Suffolk County Detective Squad has been arrested and charged with several crimes including assault on a prisoner and interference with a criminal investigation (brought on by the prisoner against him - he was trying to not only suborn perjury by three of his officers but apparently to have one of them kill the prisoner with a drug overdose to make it look like the prisoner did it). The arrest of this bozo included the tidbit that he beat up the prisoner because the prisoner was arrested for breaking into the detective chief's car, and finding a duffel bag containing pornographic material and sex toys.
As soon as this bozo was arrested and charged (and the case is so serious against this fellow, they have refused bail), the County Prosecutor announced that the FBI was being called in for the matter of the Long Island Ripper Case.
I know it may mean nothing, but has the case of this Long Island Ripper (who has targeted prostitutes) been "botched" up for the last five years due to some acquaintance of his (i.e. the bozo) who has a shared history of sex with prostitutes or worse? And hast his detention without bail been really connected with more than this Dtective Chief's shenanigans regarding his assaulting the prisoner?
