The Long Island Ripper

Reading this forum has really helped me come up with no perspectives in this case. specifically people who inserted themselves into the investigation. Here are three suspicious people who have inserted themselves into the Long Island Ripper investigation:

1. The Tattoo Artist

In 1997 on Long Island a young woman was found dismembered in a suitcase. The police had no leads but when they published a photo of the "Peaches" a Connecticut tattoo artist came forward with information. He said he gave the girl a tattoo, she was a young girl with her aunt visiting from long island who said she was having boyfriend trouble. Now this sure sounds like a bullshit story to me! Many of the victims have tattoos and when the killer called John Terry over 30 times he talked about the tattoos Terry had on his back. So here you have a tattoo artist who inserted himself into the investigation.

2. The Mushroom Hunter

In July of 2003 Jessica Taylor's torso was found in Manorville. Later that year in November a mushroom hunter came forward and lead police to another body he had found in the area. It was the badly decomposed body of a male who was likely dumped by Jessica's killer around the same time. The Mushroom hunter said he found the body too weeks early but was "too terrified" to come forward but he kept "having nightmares". Now it doesn't get any more suspicious than that. Here you have someone who inserted themselves into the investigation again with a story that doesn't make sense.

3. Seaslug

Seaslug44 is a poster from the popular forum websleuths who frequently posted on the Long Island Serial Killer section. He also posted on utopiaguide which is a escort review forum used by Long Island Johns.

Default Moving from Long Island, NY... Captiva or Sanibel?

I recently retired. Moved from Long Island, New York.

Currently renting on Sanibel Island but I think I would rather live on Captiva.

Anyone have some good advice for me?

I like to fish. Desire access to the ICW for my boat. Also need to be near an inlet to access the gulf for my long range offshore fishing trips too.

On another site someone suggested access to Tween???

I like to bird watch too so a neighborhood with privacy near wetlands would be nice. Do such neighborhoods exist around here? So far I just LOVE the people, the weather and the overall atmosphere.

Very very strange considering Dr. Hackett a POI in the lisk recently relocated to Sanibel Island, Florida and now Seaslug appears to be there also. Too Many coincidences with Seaslug44 (******* *******)

The bird watching is significant because body parts were found in the JFK bird sanctuary on Jones Beach. Yikes!

Did anyone else catch the "East of Islip" episode of CBS TV's "Unforgettable"? The team was solving a murder on the beach and kept referencing the Long Island Killer, but, of course, the case they were dealing with was solvable.

Hey guys I'm glad you responded! Curious... I'm not positive exactly when Hackett or Seaslug moved to Florida. I would say within the Past year and a half. They could be snow birds. If any of you are registered at websleuths I suggest browsing through all the Seaslug threads.

I will try to find more Info. Another thing I've been thinking is that LISK dismembered for years mostly unidentified and spread body parts far apart. But until he started dumping the identifiable AC4 and Gilgo4 no one even knew there was a SK. I think LISK studied the Ripper/Torso murders and he is emulating thinking of himself as the ripper of NYC. I think he is a ripperologist and it would be hard for me to believe he doesn't post on our forum. I don't see how he could resist.

At least one was dumped close proximity to AC4...same town...young girl staying at a motel..probably drugs n prostitution...killed with the exact LISK MO of dismemberment in suitcase. There also have been many murders in Florida with the dismemberment suitcase MO dating back many years that have been a suggested link to LISK.

If I recall correctly, the LI bodies all vanished in the summer, indicating a summer resident anyway, so might easily already tie into Florida deaths -- or at least some in a southern location.

The mention of moving to Florida could be seen as a sort of taunt, I suppose? to LE?

Curious here is an informative article about the FL SK. It's dated 2007 so I'm not sure how many murders since then. But 2007 is the year the first gilgo4 girl went missing from port authority. Port Authority and Penn station are recurring locations we find with The SK. His calls are from there and many Vic's went missing from there. It stands to reason many of the unidentified makes n females may have gone missing from midtown. The missing posters seem to be adding up lately around NYC. Every time I see a flyer with " last seen 42nd st" I cringe.

I lived, or better term yet, survived, in NYC in the 70s.

42st...Whitechapel, same ideas, different location and time.

No dark alleys on the great white way but I saw the girls walking and standing under the street lights and like the girls in Whitechapel they know where to lead a John.

It's hard to imagine how one could go missing amongst such a throng of people so close by.

I am going to go back through the thread and read all the links you guys have posted. I've been on Websleuths before, I am thinking this may take all weekend to read!

It is just my thinking that whoever the killer is, he did not live full time where the bodies were found. I really feel that he probably owns a summer home, and that it may have been in his family for a long time. That he probably grew up spending summers there and knows the area very well.

So how would that tie in to the girls missing from 42nd St.? I know the calls to one of the victims' sister were made from Times Square, but that doesn't mean (to me, anyway) that he would pick up women and kill them near 42nd.

I also don't see a dismemberment killer being the same one as one who dumps a whole body. Can you please explain how you're seeing this?

It's possible the SK has killed FL it's a similar MO. Many of the persons of interest have FL connections. A number of Oak Beach residents are snowbirds or people who live in FL for the winter and NY for the summer.
