I always thought he looked like Phillip Jackson, Japp off the Poirot series.

What an image that conjures up, and Blakey and Olive both so attractive. Anyway, I loved On The Buses, corny though it was. It would probably be so dated if you tried watching it now, but it gave a lot of pleasure to a lot of people. RIP 'Blakey'.

It's still on tele here from time to time, I still get a laugh.

Yes, he was a good comic actor. Also appeared as Smiler in Last of the Summer Wine.

"On the Buses" was just another of the great BBC comedies they never brought to the U.S. We were lucky to get "As Time Goes By", "Keeping Up Appearances", and "Are You Being Served?". We did not get "Dad's Army" either, for that matter.

Thanks Belinda. I watched the episode dealing with the "training bus". It was very amusing.

I saw there are other episodes.

There are repeats of 'On The Buses' running regularly in the afternoons in the UK on ITV3.
I won't always agree but I'll try not to be disagreeable.
