If only the Christmas impulse to be kind to one's neighbor had lasted!
I often think of the millions of good people the world lost in WWI, and for what? Wars have a terribly efficient way of killing the most courageous, dedicated, and altruistic among us.
The world could be so different today - entire nations saved - no World War II, no Holocaust, no Cold War.
Just imagine all the contributions to Art, Literature, Music, Philosophy and Science that we lost. Maybe some of those lost lives would have found the cure for Cancer?
And what was gained for all the horrific loss and suffering? A few yards of mud in No Man's Land.
