Are Chesapeakes that rare where you are? Probably not that hard to import one I'm not sure on your quarantine laws but I'm pretty certain they're not as tight as here.

      Hi Gut

at the present time, I can tell you there isn't any Chesapeake available in France.
French hunters do not appreciate pure retrievers. Labradors and Goldens are family dogs here.

Actually I'm in no hurry to take a second dog. I suspect my bitch will be jealous...so....

And why not a setter gordon ?

      Cheers

Gordon Setter isn't one on MY high list but it really depends on what you want it to do.

I presume retrieval in cold water is high on your list and laying around as a companion most of the time a Curly Coated Retriever would rate highly. As would a Small Munsterlander or a water dog, I really like the looks of the Spanish Water dog but don't know a lot about them.

          Hi Gut,

they're excellent swimmers and stay closer to the gun than other setters. That's what I've read.

          Exactly !

          Let me google that one...

          As would a Small Munsterlander
          Yes, a possible choice too.

Of course if you wanted to retrieve people from cold water it would have to be a Newfoundland but I suspect you would only get duck feathers as he can eat pretty good.

Now if you can get one in France an Irish Water Spaniel would suit too.

                Hi Gut,

                Sounds good to me.
But since yesterday I have a special feeling for the Nova Scotia retriever...

                Most rare in France, naturlich.

I love hunting dogs and that's the main reason why I've started hunting.

                      Among my fav breeds ;

                      Hungarian viszla
                      Wirehaired pointing griffon
                      Braque français (type pyrénées)

There is nothing that makes a dog happy like hunting. You should see my bitch when, in the evening, I'm preparing my clothes and everything for the morrow...and it makes me happy as well.
                      Hi DVV
I have a white boxer American bulldog mix that loves to hunt the animals in the fields around my house . I have walked him there pretty much every day since he was a puppy and he has become very adept. he loves chasing the foxes, deer, rabbits and wood chucks. He's caught and killed two wood chucks.
Almost caught a doe but I called him off.

Hes is quite a magnificent beast

Yes mate, many thanks, I've visited their site. They're in the Cher, quite far from where I live. They're not French, if I remember well : Ian Wyatt, or something... Now they don't have any puppy available, but they're the best to call when I'll be sure I want another dog.
My bitch is about 19kg, and such a beauty. A Nova Scotia will make a perfect husband and friend.

                              Gut, my friend,

                              I just called Ian Watt.
He has four bitches and they all will have puppies before Christmas.

And the Christmas price is 1500 euros each - of course, I'll have to drive 2000 km.

But you know what ? I really want a Nova Scotia.

                                My goodness 1500 Euro!!!

However I admit that if I was still active a Novie would be near the top of my list.
