That’s the best approach to people like that c.d. We tend to get irritated though (I certainly do) and try to persuade people with reason, logic, common sense, evidence, science etc but once people get behind a conspiracist idea like this then it’s a rarity to get them to see sense. Every point made gets seen through a prism which transforms it into something that somehow supports their argument. Then when it’s pointed out how certain people provide strong evidence against something we get them to see old chestnut “well they would say that wouldn’t they?”Originally posted by c.d. View PostI always liked the response of Neil Degrasse Tyson when he was asked what arguments he used against Flat Earthers? He said I don't engage with them.

That's exactly what I experienced when I used to debate religious people. Now I just laugh and keep going.Originally posted by Herlock Sholmes View Post

I really like Bill Nye the Science Guy but I think he made a mistake in debating Ken Ham of Answers in Genesis. It seemed to imply that Ham and his positions should be taken seriously.Originally posted by Holmes' Idiot Brother View Post

Exactly! Why Nye lowered himself to debate that lunatic is beyond me.Originally posted by c.d. View Post

I saw a YouTube video on how this stupid ark has been an eyesore and money pit ever since Hamm opened it. Once the novelty wore off, the money started to dry up. Imagine taking the millions they spent on that ludicrous monstrosity and giving it to charity or otherwise do some good with it. I firmly believe religion to be the last socially acceptable mental illness in the world.Originally posted by c.d. View Post
Maybe Bill was hoping to get free passes to the Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter.

I've seen a video of Nye accepting a challenge by the Ark Encounter people to appear there in a sort of "debate"-- it was likely a poor decision on his part, as it seemed to raise the myth to the same level as evolution.Originally posted by c.d. View Post
