There are warnings (both high wind and possible flooding) out right across these areas - and indeed my area too, though I'm not personally unduly worried about flooding as our place is at least at least 9 or 10 feet ASL

Bosham is, of course always subject to flood risk as high tides often see the sea rising up the High Street - The cafe is usually cut off at highest tide, and alas the submarine door between the Ancre Bleu and it's patio is no longer fully functional...

Selsey is different perhaps now, as the owner of the West Sands leisure park (caravan sites!) having become disgusted at the Environment Agency's lack of interest, has invested heavily in his own flood defences, which were completed in the Autumn...just in time for gales/high tides on 5th December, during which they held...

As I'm not at work at the moment I'm lacking the direct info I'd usually have, just local TV and radio which haven't highlighted anything, but I'm back on duty Monday, and should I hear anything I'll let you know

These other people to whom you're referring are so bitter and twisted that they've spent the last 1 billion years putting all of their energy into hating the English, and while they were doing that we just took from here to the end of the earth.

The stupidity of it all is that most Englishme have all sorts of blood. My Grandma is Scottish on my Dad's side; my Mam's side are mostly Cornish via Wales. Thanks Dave. I read that they've now given up some land to the sea at Selsey, in the hope of mitigating flooding problems.

Back in the 60s there was an episode of The Saint set in Bosham. Probably not much of Bosham on show - opening shot and then the rest in the studio, I shouldn't wonder.

Fresh flood alerts issued 0756 today for coastal areas between Thorney Island and Bracklesham, including Bosham, West Itchenor and West Wittering, and also between Selsey Bill and Elmer, including Pagham, Sidlesham and Bognor....

First high tide today was 1330 approx and I've not heard of any serious incursions yet, but tonight's high tide will be slightly higher, with the possibility of a small surge...fingers crossed we don't get any further gales to whip it up.

You mean occupying other countries, reducing their indigenous people to slaves or (at best) second-class citizens, bleeding them of their useful natural resource, then leaving them to their own devices as soon as the operation became unsustainable, unprofitable or unjustifiable?

If anyone's bitter and twisted, it's perhaps because they can see the harm such inegalitarian, xenophobic and exploitative regimes have caused, both here and elsewhere, over many years.

I'm advised that the Anchor Bleu spent Friday baling out it's cellars for the second time in a week....and apparently today's 1330 high tide was quite a way up the High Street (though for the most part of course, the extended door sills would keep the water out) - the labours in the pub might have been a bit premature if tonights high tide (actually about 0210 Sunday morning) is accompanied by high winds. It's not got up yet, but I'm afraid there's time yet.

Nothing new from Selsey yet

Not sure what any of this has to do with the topic unless it's the gale force winds which are expected to deliver the forty lashes, or Bracklesham's become subject to Shariah law over Christmas...perhaps I'd better pm you with any further bulletins unless there's any other folk out there interested, in which case it ought to be a new thread...
