Ever hear of Richard Brega? Me either. He was successfully prosecuted for campaign finance violations in New York a few years ago.

There have been others, routinely and successfully prosecuted. They cheated, they were caught, they were prosecuted, they took their lumps.

The only thing making it a 'show trial' is DJT. He wants to be seen as a victim and a martyr and wants a different set of rules for him.

Since the Grand Jury found reasonable evidence to put him on trial, I can't see how it can be argued that this is a political 'hit.'

The fact that the judge didn't order a gag on press statements is, and the prosecution didn't request it, in my opinion, proof that this is kind of a toothless prosecution with a fairly weak judge. The judge knows that if he issues a gag order, Trump will break it in five minutes and then they'll have to deal with it. And they really don't want to. This is a show trial.

Nobody ever wants to be first, whether it's with taking a stand or filling a plate at a family buffet. Everyone just circles around waiting for someone else to break the seal.

And whether he beats the charge or not, is irrelevant. There's nothing preventing a convicted felon, or someone under indictment from running for president. He can do it while standing trial. And the Republicans are dumb enough to let him.
    Both remain to be seen.

Will they happen? Yes in my opinion .

Those 34 charges are all felonies (class "E" felonies, which are the lowest, but still...). I think for a businessman to get charged with "falsifying business records" is pretty telling. Three different payoffs, too.

There are three other investigations underway, still.

I think the hardest thing that hit Trump today was the small number of supporters that were waving signs of support. (Colbert said they were so few that reporters had to line up to interview them!)

    They might get there yet.

They should put Rudy in charge again. I miss those press conferences outside sex shops.

Lol. Never heard that one before!

TFG (the former guy, i.e. Trump) has been indicted, and is expected to surrender on Tuesday, April 4th. The exact charges will be known then, but I haveread they may cover 30 business laws, which seems a lot for a single hush-money payment to a paid escort/porn actress (apparently from his campaign funds).
Not that I understand this stuff.

Today I read that new evidence may indicate that Trump checked through some of the boxes of classified documents *after* he was requested by subpoena to return the boxed documents relating to his Presidency to the National Archives. This suggests he went through them to still save items he wanted to keep berore returning some document boxes. Others he stashed in Florida, and these had to be seized by the FBI later. At this point, the investigation is trying to ascertain *why* he removed certain top secret documents.

There are two other legal investigations, too. Should be fun to watch!
