They should put Rudy in charge again. I miss those press conferences outside sex shops.

As someone who watches trials for fun, while I am looking forward to this one purely because of the spectacle, I wish he were being indicted for important crimes. You know... like inciting sedition or election tampering in Georgia. **** that actually matters on a national level. I could not care less about his porn star pay-offs.

Those 34 charges are all felonies (class "E" felonies, which are the lowest, but still...). I think for a businessman to get charged with "falsifying business records" is pretty telling. Three different payoffs, too.
There are three other investigations underway, still.
I think the hardest thing that hit Trump today was the small number of supporters that were waving signs of support. (Colbert said they were so few that reporters had to line up to interview them!)Pat D. https://forum.casebook.org/core/imag...rt/reading.gif

I dont think so, if that was going to happen they wouldnt have gone after him with this crappy charge, which he will know doubt beat and go on to be the republican nominee .
And whether he beats the charge or not, is irrelevant. There's nothing preventing a convicted felon, or someone under indictment from running for president. He can do it while standing trial. And the Republicans are dumb enough to let him.

Nobody ever wants to be first, whether it's with taking a stand or filling a plate at a family buffet. Everyone just circles around waiting for someone else to break the seal.

Will they happen? Yes in my opinion .'It doesn't matter how beautiful your theory is. It doesn't matter how smart you are . If it doesn't agree with experiment, its wrong'' . Richard Feynman

Ever hear of Richard Brega? Me either. He was successfully prosecuted for campaign finance violations in New York a few years ago.
There have been others, routinely and successfully prosecuted. They cheated, they were caught, they were prosecuted, they took their lumps.
The only thing making it a 'show trial' is DJT. He wants to be seen as a victim and a martyr and wants a different set of rules for him.
Since the Grand Jury found reasonable evidence to put him on trial, I can't see how it can be argued that this is a political 'hit.'

I don't think it was a "political hit" at all. I am of the opinion that all crimes, should be prosecuted equally and fairly. The minor burglar and the murderer should both be prosecuted with the same degree of zeal, if not the same sentencing, of course. But I do have a problem with this for the same reason that I have problems with the Bill Clinton thing. Paying someone to be quiet, about an embarrassing affair, or lying about having one, is NOT how I want to see a Person put on trial. It's a travesty in my opinion that the personal, private, NONE OF MY ******* BUSINESS, issues are about the only things that people are willing to go after a Person of Power for. It annoys me that they ignore the serious, actual harm and crimes they do, because of course, everyone's doing it, and pursue merely the salacious. Never mind that everyone knew Trump was a crook and fleecing people for 20 years before he ever ran for president, if it doesn't involve a porn star or an Oval Office cigar, everything can be swept under the rug. We concentrate on the scandalous and forget that none of this **** is our business and we pay no attention to the SERIOUS crimes that screw over democracy, the economy and every single one of us. It's Benghazi and Bullshit, all the time. We're so distracted by the spectacle, nobody cares. And I'm done caring, and trying to explain to idiots how they're being screwed over, over and over again. So I'm going to sit down and enjoy the Show of this show trial. Bread and Circuses, or something like that, right? But I know every minute, that yes, this IS a show trial, meant to distract and I'm tired enough of the horseshit to be distracted. It's not real. It doesn't matter. It's puppetry. And he'll go to jail for something ridiculous and give his supporters room to say "This was BS", or he'll get acquitted and he'll give his opponents something to be aghast about and it'll all be a grand ol' time come Voting Day and no one's going to actually pay attention to the fact that everyone running and all your options are just different kind of tragedies. So bring on the clown show, I am done with dramadies. He should go to jail, yes he should. But he should go to jail for something real. Something lasting. Something that condemns him for the corrupt piece of coprolite that he is. I want his sentence to be a condemnation of something that makes a statement. I don't want that statement to be "A Man we all know is piece of perverted ****, paid a porn star to be quiet about it, and he went to jail." Who cares? I want the statement to be "He's a traitorous piece of **** and you all knew who he was when you elected him and shame on you, for being that dumb. And still being that dumb." He didn't hide anything, this wasn't a betrayal. Everyone knew what he was, the ones who elected him to do exactly what he did just think it's worth whatever price we pay in morality, to stick up a middle finger to the "libs". He's on tape bragging about sexually assaulting women, and he was elected President of the United States. Nobody cared. "So he's a rapist, at least he's not a Woman". That's what they voted for that day. Half of this country doesn't think being a proud sexual assaulter disqualifies you from Leadership. I am done with this country, I'm ready for it to burn. I plan to make s'mores.

I've read that what makes the charges felonies is because they may well have been intended to cover up some other, larger, crime. In this case, saying that his repayment to Cohen for making the "hush money" payment was "legal exprnses" is incorrect and covers up something that could have affected his chances of getting election.
Observers are divided on the D.A.'s move: some say it strengthens the case, some disagree.Pat D. https://forum.casebook.org/core/imag...rt/reading.gif
