Mother in law told me this afternoon that jack the ripper was dead because it was a long time ago ....so ends the mystery I will never mention this subject to my wife or mother in law again I promise

Your wife's deduction compares favorably to the quite serious scenarios of Jill the Ripper and "Jack the Myth" advanced here. One man. And with a knife. That he owned. Well done!

Hey, he could have stolen the knife! And, for that matter, the hat.

Or borrowed the knife and hat and the beard...

BTW, Wickerman, the room you were offering?
Does that cost 4d a night?

Or.....it could have been a woman with a knife.
            This is simply my opinion

Yes, I think we have a room, a little worse for wear.
The windows are all cracked, and the floorboards are all bare.

But, the room comes fully furnished, though I couldn't charge for that.
'Cause there's dust & cobwebs everywhere, as well as one dead cat.

And one last thing that slipped my mind, I know I should have said.
The last known tenant never left,....his body's on the bed.

              Regards, Jon S.

                Dead creatures, fabulous cat
It's bloody Vincent, hold on to your hat!
