New York Times, March 19, 2013, Science Section - D
In the weekly science section of the New York Times today they mentioned that there have been several discoveries throughout Europe of graves accidentally excavated for reasons of current urban planning. One found in Scotland is of a knight who died in the 13th Century. When I saw that I wondered if they might find Macbeth next.

Richard III "Relatives" Claim Burial In Leicester Is A Breach of Human Rights
This is ridiculous. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/history/9...scendants.html
Was it a breach of Richard III's human rights when his oh-so-concerned "relatives" left him lying in under a car-park for all those years with his body being driven over by strangers?
I'm descended from the Plantagenets too, so maybe I should start making demands too... starting with- I want the throne back!!
...Nah.

I find it amusing that it is Leicester that gets the insults re "Disneyland" etc, but is acting with integrity and dignity, whereas York it appears will do ANYTHING to get their hands on the filthy lucre likely to go with the body. Be sure some lobby group "up north" has inspired this.
They must be pretty distant relatives and cannot be direct descendents anyway.
Besides (although I'm not a lawyer) I don't think relatives have any right to be consulted about burial, so I suspect this will be quickly thrown out. Otherwise we'd find more family feuds on that score.
